Why won't my Outlook send to Hotmail accounts?

Hi. I get an error message every time I try to send from my Outlook to a Hotmail account. It sounds like I'm blocking the Hotmail address but can't find it anywhere in my Outlook settings. Or could it be a Terra problem ???

Do you mean Outlook or Outlook Express?

You cannot send from Outlook Express any more. You need to download Windows Live Mail to do this.

Sid, I am a bit confused here. I am still sending emails to and receiving emails from Hotmail addresses using my Telefónica email addresses from Outlook Express or do you mean that you cannot use a Hotmail address with Outlook Express?

No Microsoft Outlook. Its part of Microsoft Office. I use it for emails to and from my Terra address, calendar, contacts, etc cos it downloads information to my phone and Palm handheld.

There is no problem sending to or receiving from Hotmail accounts through Outlook Express.

The problem is when you only have a Hotmail account and do not wish to use it as a web based client. You used to be able to set up the Hotmail account in Outlook Express to collect and send your mail using your Hotmail account.

They then removed this facility unless you had a "paid for" premium account.

It will work now with either Windows Mail (Vista) or Windows Live mail (W7). It also works with Outlook.

Yes, I understand now. Thanks. It was just that it is not clear from the OP's post if that was her problem or if she just couldn't send emails to Hotmail addresses.

Ok - it wasn't clear to me from your original post whether you were using a Hotmail account.

You should have no problem sending to or receiving so it may be a problem with your Terra account setup. Have you changed anything recently in Outlook?

I use Outlook with a Telefonica connection and have no problems with Hotmail.

Ms Fox, are you still having a problem. There was a faulty gateway in the Málaga area last week which meant that some sites were slow to load at odd times but I think this has now been rectified. I'm not sure if this would have affected you in Seville.

You could well be right. I was having real problems on Thursday with many sites timing out.

I was also getting some odd behaviour in Outlook but emails seemed to go out eventually although they were sitting in the Outbox for more time than usual.

Yes, same here, exactly.

I also had to change the IP address for remote access to my CCTV cameras in order to route them through an alternative portal.

Yes, Hotmail and Yahoo. It's getting worse. I'm gonna get onto Telefonica.
