Lost SKY can anyone help?

Postby metalmonkey » Sun Mar 21, 2010 11:09 am

Hi our old blue card was replaced by the white one befor Christmas and has worked fine until yesterday. We subscribe to sky. Suddenly a message saying insert new sky card apeared, we can still get free view channels but not the ones we are paying for. Have tried:
Turning everything off waiting overnight and restarting
Turning everything off and waiting for the card to re initialise when the red light standby light is on
Swearing at it!
all no good....I have been told that I can pay £30 for a company to phone sky for me??? but this seems a bit excessive.

Has anyone else had a similar problem

Man thanks

It seems that it is a case of your box not recognising the card rather than the fact that it has been switched off which would have resulted in the 'you need to subscribe to this channel' message. Can you get Sky 3? Have you tried going into system details to see if the card is being recognised?

Before doing anything else try wiping the chip on the card very lightly with soft cloth.

Sky 3 is free to view and not part of your subscription package so this would indicate that the problem does not lie with your subscription.

Have you tried rebooting both with the card inserted and without the card inserted? Have you checked the Sky help site here:
