Re: windows blooming updates
And what exactly is wrong with what Hotmail is offering you?
It looks like a reasonable way to send pictures to me.

Re: windows blooming updates
Well allow it then - it won't do any harm if it comes from a source like Microsoft.

Sid i'm sorry if you can't read the top bit, but when i click on it it does not give me the chance to have it, it seems i must download activex control, but it just warns me not to unless i really know if its a safe site it is coming from, so i am not good as you know at this computer lark, and don't want to load any trouble,so when you click on it it say whats the risk?

Re: windows blooming updates
Yes, some ActiveX controls could be nasty if they come from a dodgy source as they do install a program on your PC which could be harmful.
Windows gives you these warnings to protect you but if it comes from a source you know then it is perfectly safe and essential to do what you are trying to do on the Hotmail site.
In this case you need the ActiveX program to enable you to send the pictures. Just click on the warning message line and tell it that it's OK to download the ActiveX program.
All these security messages are a pain but they are there to protect you so I guess we have to get used to them. It's possible to turn off most of them but then you could be exposed to some serious nasties!

What should I do when Internet Explorer blocks the use of an ActiveX control?
You should always be cautious about allowing websites to install or use ActiveX controls on your computer. If an ActiveX control is not essential to your computer activity, try to avoid installing it. If you are trying to decide whether to install a particular add-on or ActiveX control, ask yourself these questions:
Do you trust the website providing the control?
Don't install an ActiveX control unless you trust the website that is providing it. For information about how to decide if you can trust a website, see below.
Do you know what the control is for and what it will do to your computer?
The website should tell you what this add-on or ActiveX control is for and provide any special details you need to know before you install it. If this information is not available, you should not install the control.
If you still want to install or run the ActiveX, click the Information bar, and then follow the prompts.
ha ha and when i click the information bar, then i am completely lost,

Re: windows blooming updates
Removing the parasitic "MyWebSearch" toolbar would be an awesome place to start
Re: windows blooming updates
I have a feeling that if you right-click that message it allows you to OK.
Brian.
Re: windows blooming updates
Ok Griff done that, why?? Rafiki no that does not work thanks.
Re: windows blooming updates
It would probably be quicker for you to Google "mywebsearch" Ken and see for yourself rather than me to explain here.
Re: windows blooming updates
