Movistar ('cos Telefonica got a bad name)
Movistar ('cos Telefonica got a bad name)
I got a call from Movistar on Friday asking if I wanted to come back to them. I've been offered 10Mb, free Spanish calls (that's normal), free calls to mobiles at week-ends, phone rental ... for a cost of €39 per month including IVA. I've said yes.
Question. I will now have one spare router (non-WiFi) and one spare router (WiFi). What should I do with them? Keep them as spares or give them away?
If the answer is "give them away", does anyone want a free router?

Keep the best as a spare for when you ditch Movistar for the 2nd time.
Then sell the other on eBay.
A friend of mine took up Movistar on their special offer and each 2 months got billed at the non-offer rate. So she cancelled, but not before a lot of time and effort wasted trying to put it right.
Unless you are saving a lot of money, don't do it Mowser, you will lose your sense of humour.

Or just get married, theres no bigger challenge
Re: Movistar ('cos Telefonica got a bad name)
I had just managed to get BT Arrakis down to €39 when Movistar called. 10mb and the free mobile calls at week-ends swung it.
(ps ... Mrs Mowser prefers her dongle at full price. No half measures for her).

there is a limit to the nature of the challenges one should take on...challenges that could be detrimental to your mental health are not to be recommended !!

You didn't mention in that list line rental - you may find that's a further 13,97 + iva. Just been looking at the offer on their website http://tinyurl.com/6gukrmv, and it appears to be 26,90 + iva for 12 months - after that it'll shoot up to some ridiculous amount and you will probably have to give blood to cancel it. Line rental is extra. Whether the 39 they quoted you includes it or not I can't work from the prices shown on the website. Suffice to say the offer presumably originates from the Department of Dirty Tricks and there's a well hidden catch. Hope I'm wrong though.Mowser wrote:I got a call from Movistar on Friday asking if I wanted to come back to them. Thanks Miro.
When I received the original call last Friday I went to the web site and noticed there was IVA to be added. When she called back on Monday I asked how much the total price would be INCLUDING IVA.
She said the price including that would be a fixed €39. I told her that if there was IVA to be added (I mentioned I saw the web page), I would decline her munificent offer.
She said it was a special deal to welcome back previous customers. Let's see.

Vamos a ver.
And the line rental? Even with that added to 39 euros, it's nearly 15 euros a month LESS than I pay for my 6Mb, so it still looks good. (And btw, I do get almost 6Mb - will also be interesting to see how close to 10 you can get)

I as told it would take up to 10 days to get it all sorted out. I'll post with the outcome.

Re: Movistar ('cos Telefonica got a bad name)
I have a similar deal to yours Mowser, which I have had for almost a year now
37.99 Euros per month plus IVA, line rental, free landline calls, free calls to mobiles at weekends and router all included. This is for 3mb.
Plus for two euros more you have the option to have internet anywhere with free dongle, free use of WIFI hotspots in Spain. Any internet use outside this costs 2 euros more per day but you only pay for the days you connect

Re: Movistar ('cos Telefonica got a bad name)
I would be very interested to know if you all actually receive the mb you are paying for - 10mb....?? They offer us 3mb here but the line does 1mb most of the time, or less.......and no one gets more than 1.25 in reality.....
Hope it works out for you Mowser, but I can think of more exciting ways to add interest and variety to your life.....
