I have a Kingston Datatraveller USB memory stick of 16GB. I have previously used it to copy files off my Humax PVR box. However when I now insert it I get a message which reads something like 'Cannot read the USB device - please reformat as either EXT3 or FAT32 using your PC'.
I can read the files OK on my PC and it tells me that it is FAT32 formatted. I have even reformatted it on the PC without any Humax success. I also have a MP3 player which the Humax box recognises as a USB device but cannot read any files on it. Help!

Not all USB sticks seem to work on the Humax.
You could try reformatting it to EXT3 but that's a bit complicated!

Sid - would you mind talking me through how to format my memory sticks to EXT? Presumably I will have to download some software. I am using an Acer Aspire 7003 laptop with XP.
Thanks. Graham

Sorry Sid - please disregard my previous post. I have managed to format my stick using Easeus Partition Manager but the stick is still not recognised by my Humax box. I give up...

I think it is the Humax box. I have transferred many programmes to store on my computer using a USB stick. Now it tells me that the files sizes are too large to transfer. I have changed nothing, not even the stick.

Maybe they are.ajtg1952 wrote:I Now it tells me that the files sizes are too large to transfer.
You cannot transfer files larger than 4gb unless you use EXT3 format.
As I said before, some USB sticks give problems with the Humax. Try using a decent external hard drive - they don't cost much these days - 320gb for £40.

El Cid, I think you have missed my point. I have not changed anything. I know the limit is 4Gb but it will not transfer smaller files as it has done in the past.

Re: Humax Box and USBs
Try a different stick or HDD - as I said it it is a known problem with the Humax.ajtg1952 wrote:El Cid, I think you have missed my point. I have not changed anything. I know the limit is 4Gb but it will not transfer smaller files as it has done in the past.
If not try a factory reset on the Humax.
