What size dish is required to pick up Abu Dhabi Sport

Postby Alhaurincraig » Thu Mar 17, 2011 9:05 am

I'm looking to buy an Abu Dhabi Sport card but just want to make sure what size dish is required to pick it up. I have a 1m dish already & detected Badr6 by accident when I was realigning it for 28.2. I didn't do a full scan just the free channels so before I do all the work myself, can anybody tell me if my 1m dish will pick up all the AB Sport channels?

Abu Dhabi Sport is free to air on Nilesat at 7 degrees west.

Frequency 11975 Vertical

Symbol 27500

F.E.C 5/6

Easily receivable on an 80cm dish.

Some AB channels are FTA on Badr 4 but the sport channels are encrypted on Badr 6 & a bigger dish is needed for these but yeah after a bit more reading I think my 1m dish will be fine

I'm going with Badr 6 rather than Nilesat purely because my existing dish is on 28.2 so only needs a slight adjustment, I'd have to move the bracket for 7w

An update to this thread for anybody else who may be interested in this package. I used a 1m dish on Badr 26e & the signal is absolutley perfect even in very heavy rain. So when the sky goes off at least I'll still have all the MBC & Fox channels.

A bargain that I would recommend to everybody, especially if you like football

Hi.

A 1m dish is fine, Also you could use a wizard arm if you have a 1.2m or 1.3m, and it works perfect, Never tried a wizard arm with a 1m.

A wizard arm is an attachment for using one dish but picking up 2 different satellites!

You will need to go with Badr definitely as the ADMC channels even though are transmitted on Nile sat and Atlantic bird also, They are on Mid East beams, Not receivable in Europe. Like showtime was last year.

Carl.

It's still a sale. Just keep commercial transactions of any kind to PM.
