lost my sound

My sound has gone off my laptop, it was in the shop for a virus yesterday, could they have turned something off?
if so how do I turn it on

You should have a small loud speaker icon next to the time in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. If its not there click the arrow pointing left and it will reveal hidden icons.
When you have located it , right click it with your mouse and it will reveal the volume control, the mute box might be checked or the volume is low.

Thanks, but thats all ok, the cds will play, but no sound from u tube etc.

Youtube has a mute button. Bottom left just under the video. Has that been clicked?

Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Sounds > Click Advanced and make sure none of the mute boxes are checked.

Thanks, I have tried the suggestions, still no sound on utube, i clicked test speaker and they work ok, also the drivers are up todate, anymore ideas please !

Do you have the most recent version of Adobe Flash player?

I don't know, but I will google it and it will update it for me I guess, ill let you know if it works Thanks.

Just downloaded it and its not made any difference

I would be inclined to go back to the shop and ask.
If you are PC savvie then try doing the suggested fix here which has worked for many with that kind of problem.

Go to www.adobe.com then download adobe flash player and install it to your computer.

And me! If you've tried all the above and it's still not working, take it back. If it was OK before you took it in, chances are they might have done something.

Well I went back to the shop, he has done a reformatt and put panda security on it , he also did it free
everything seems fine now.

I knew a reformat would do it but didn't want to suggest it in case you had lots of stuff on the Hard Drive. Glad its been sorted and all for free
