BBC iPlayer
itvplayer
Would need a 2- 2.5MB download link.
More involved than just switching on the TV remote.............but if you're a TV addict you'll soon learn...........

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

No, there are books to read, Monopoly to play, Scrabble, conversation, going out walking, star gazing, photography, crafts, keeping pets, radio, Internet forums, Spanish TV and just sitting quietly, pondering the meaning of life!Acen wrote:I read the olive tree article and was not impressed at all. Is Internet tv the only solution??

What an interesting discussion.
I must be getting better sunsets than the rest of you, sitting on my terrace watching the sun dip down behind the Hills with my chilled glass of beer - with the TV turned off so that I can hear the crickets chirping.....
Mate of mine said he found this new internet tv site called UKEXPATTV.COM and that this was lower bandwidth than others he had seen.
Maybe help get you guys hooked up with all your channells again.

Its just another of the many companies offering the same solution via a set top box.
All the boxes are pretty much the same and are well overpriced - the monthly subscription of €20+ again is over the top for what you can get for free from companies like Filmon.com.
They are all jumping on the bandwagon at the moment where expats are worried about losing the signal in the summer.

Bumping this up with news:
New launch date for Astra 2E, the second new UK TV satellite: 15th September 2013.
But any changes will be a few weeks after this, after the satellite has been tested and positioned.
This delay was due to a rocket failure on a previous launch - due to an incorrectly installed sensor

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

Rumours of a gang of expats heading to the launch site with a load of fire extinguishers have yet to be verified...
Edit: Maybe that won't be necessary (yet)... Proton launch on September 15 in doubt - expert:

Re: Has anyone actually lost their TV signal yet?
A mate of mine who loves his TV just got an iptv box from ukexpattv.com and I have to say its works really well.
The pictures are really good.
I will continue to watch the sunsets and not miss the TV.

We have just lost" BBC 1 South" and "Channel Islands". Everything else is good and we are getting BBC "London" and" West" no probs. Anyone else on BBC South having problems?

No there isn't anything new and no one has the slightest idea what size dish you will need.
Wait until the changes take place, probably late October/early November and then you will find out.

Re: Has anyone actually lost their TV signal yet?
I agree.
Nobody really knows what the situation is yet. It might be that a change to 1.5 metre dish will be enough so it's pointless going out and buying a 5 metre one right now until we have definite news and knowledge based on true experience. We really just need to wait and see.
Even setting up a contract with a new set top box isn't a good idea just yet, because most of us already have the equipment such as laptops, smartphones, game consoles to achieve the same results.

Re: Has anyone actually lost their TV signal yet?
Reports are that a "technical issue" has been found in the launch vehicle for Astra 2E, resulting in a small delay of a week or two from its scheduled launch on the 16/17th September.
