Satellite ADSL

Because of our area's distance from the exchange, 1mb is the fastest Telefonica can offer, and they say there is no forseeable prospect of being able to increase that. Has anyone any experience of satellite as an alternative ?

No personal experience, however someone on another forum has it and is well enough pleased with it for me to be heading down that route. No access to Iberbanda here and 3G dongle is pretty poor and expensive.

Like 3G dongles, there are monthly limits with Satellite. If you download or even upload a lot your "slow" hard wired ADSL must surely be a better option as presumably it is unlimited.

The company I will be going with is Tooway Home via Bentley Walker.

Although it was promised by Telefonica to be available when we bought our campo home, after we moved in and pushed for a cable to be connected, it became apparent that they had no intention of giving us a landline - dongle reception is poor here too, so far have tried Movistar (Telefonica), orange and vodafone ... So we have gone for satellite - got a phone line which is now VERY good since a recent upgrate they did with their equipment, and download speed of 8 mega guaranteed, and 2 gigas per month, for 47 euros, and this includes 400 minutes of international phone calls (Europe and N America) - we pay per usage at reasonable rates for national calls within Spain.
So try Quantis.es - let them know you are considering others too and they may do you a deal! The website is available in English and there are English speaking back-up services too.
