Help re a document

Postby Bongtrees » Wed Jan 30, 2013 11:23 pm

My son has sent his CV to me to alter and send off for a job application tomorrow. I am using his laptop with windows and Word but somehow the first para type is different to the rest. I put the cursor on the 1st and says same font and size as the rest but it is definitely different on screen and when printed off.

Does anyone have any ideas I can try to rectify this please?

TIA

have you tried 'highlighting/selecting' the whole para and choosing the font again?

Yes and changed to Times Roman when the same discrepancy occurs and then back to Verdana....just doesnt make sense.

Is it a long CV? Would it be quicker (and less frustrating) just to re-do the whole thing?
Word drives me nuts sometimes

Try this:
'Select all', then choose Verdana, de-select. You should now have the whole doc in Verdana.
Repeat, but this time try your preferred font - this should now bring the whole doc into TNR or whichever

I use this technique when trying to get rid of unwanted spaces after or before paras, generally with success :D
Word doesn't seem to like changing part of a doc away from preset defaults and pretends its done it, so I put all the doc into those settings, and then I can change the whole doc back again

Thanks everybody and especially Enrique for offering to do it for me.

I had to get my mother to Addenbrookes for an appointment and sent out an SOS during the night to everyone I know and my sons girlfriend got it done and sent. Now lets ets hope he gets the job:)
