Pay As You Go SIM for Data

Postby zanuck » Sat Oct 19, 2013 9:43 pm

We don't have a landline in our house(due to number of days per visit per year) although most of the other houses in the village seem to be served via a junction box on the outside of our house :eh: and we have a battered old Nokia mobile phone on a PAYG SIM from Phone House.

We have Smartphones in England and have just invested in a Tablet and have been looking at Huawei MiFi devices to set up our own mini WLAN in our Spanish house to use them, for which I think we will need a PAYG Data SIM.

I can't see one of these on the Phone House website, or maybe that's my ineptitude, has anyone else got a PAYG data SIM for use with a Smartphone or tablet from Phone House (or another Service Provider)?

Any stories about usage/charges etc would be gratefully received.

Many thanks - Z

Try www.simyo.es

3c per megabyte for data pay as you go with no minimum usage.

That's €30/GB which sounds expensive unless you want very little data.

Anyone know why their 1GB bono is more expensive than 2 500MB ones (€13.90 cf. 2 * 6.90 = €13.80) :?:

On a less mischeivous note: I have a Simyo mobile. They use Orange as their carrier. It's worth checking that Orange have 3G coverage in your area. At my house they only supply 2G  So they'd be useless if I wanted a high-speed data connection.

Thanks everyone, plenty of options there for me to follow up on, I hadn't thought about checking for 3G coverage, Samsung G3 smartphone and the offsprings' iphones all work ok in Canillas, so we may be ok, I'll work through the various links you have all suggested.
Many thanks - Z
