SKY DOCTOR
SKY DOCTOR
Has anyone used the firm SKY DOCTOR? Thinking of getting IPTV through them. Their website looks good and they seem to know what they are about but looks can be deceiving.
Re: SKY DOCTOR
Never used them but looked at one of their adverts it stated that it is not possible to have IPTV via a satellite because of bandwidth problems.
I know for a fact this is not true as that is the way I get IPTV.

Just looked at their website where it states:-
"Latest News about Tooway Internet via Satellite:
You cannot use Tooway or any satellite internet for IPTV"
Absolute and total lies.

Re: SKY DOCTOR
Also seems very expensive for something that you can with a little research basically source and set up for yourself.
Re: SKY DOCTOR
When I had a sky installation done I used Pro Sky and they were very good.

Why on earth people are paying subscriptions for what is on offer all over the 'tinterweb for free is beyond me
Re: SKY DOCTOR
You miss a point.
I am coping quite happily with my only computer, a laptop with an HMDI port, a Smart DNS service, and the various players. I download responsibly, overnight, and we have what we require a day late.
This is perfect for us and straightforward as I am relatively technically competent.
Now put me in hospital for a few days or worse, what does my wife do ? she had trouble with the Humax box (yes really) and is not conversant at all with things computing aside from mail and a quick surf.
That is why people pay a subscription, to make it simple. Which one is rather more difficult.

Try this
Download ZenMate for chrome extension, then watch via the Iplayer or go to TVplayer
http://tvplayer.com/
It's working with ZenMate and is better quality than Filmon

Re: SKY DOCTOR
I tried tvplayer.com but my I.P. address is Spain so it won't let me use it. I use FILMOM at the moment which is OK but buffers and goes off some nights. Presumeably when most users are ONLINE!

Re: SKY DOCTOR
I tried to access TV Player before downloading Zenmate and TV Player denied me access as it detected I was in Spain. I downloaded Zenmate now TV Player still denies me access and tells me I am in country code CH.

Re: SKY DOCTOR
Hi,
Zenmate..................you need to manage your connection and set it to UK.
CH = Switzerland
I've currently have it working ok.
This on the other hand...........
Using Expat Shield..........getting UK IP........tvplayer must black list this as it doesn't work.

Re: SKY DOCTOR
I spoke to Sky Doctor today regarding their MIFI solution at 60 euros a month inc IVA. They are able to provide unlimited download via the Movistar mobile network. They say that they will not install it for TV use unless the download speed is at least 8mbps. I have read posts on this site where TV has been available at much lower speeds and am tempted to give it a try. My only other alternative would appear to be Tooway with a monthly download limit of 20GB for 49.50 euros a month plus IVA. This would mean downloading programmes overnight during the unlimited download period midnight to 7.a.m. and watching them the next day. Has anyone any comments regarding the minimum download speed required to watch live TV ?

Re: SKY DOCTOR
I am watching live TV with just 3Mg with Iberbanda. Great if you live in the campo (no choices) with router, wifi and phone calls free to Spanish landlines and 90 minutes to mobiles included. Filmon.com is fine, free and if you register you can record and do favourite channels too, so you don't have to trawl through all of them. Occasional buffering and freezing at prime time but it costs nothing! I pay enough at €48.15 a month without shelling out lots more for TV. I had a Freeview box with Sky but I am managing OK this way. Costasmarttv.com seems well reviewed and and I might get that in the future so I don't have to keep my IPad connected by HDMI to my TV for big screen entertainment!

Re: SKY DOCTOR
Good morning axarquian,
From reading through this thread it would seem that 3.5Mbps download is ok...3Mbps at a push.
BUT....your location may play a big part in getting an unbuffered play.
When I've run tests throught various times of the day my 3.5Mbps link works ok, not having a "real" TV monitor I can't test the quality , but it looks ok on the laptop screen.
My ISP is a WiFi based system.....line of sight using ONO infrustructure.

Re: SKY DOCTOR
Somewhat frustratingly ONO are running an ad on the speedtest.net site for 100mb fibre optic internet, unlimited download, phone with xx free calls etc, special offer 'til 28th February, €29.50.
Fat chance of fibre optics out here in the campo!

Re: SKY DOCTOR
I have used them and service and set-up was good. However, I used Tooway for internet (I have used various satellite internet services since 2002) and it was great to start with but now they are slowing the service so much on the beam to Southern Spain that it is unusable for IPTV for around 5 to 6 hours every evening and about 10 hours on a Sunday. It has been checked and Tooway confirm there is nothing wrong - so all this IPTV has overloaded it completely. Lucky to get 0.6 Mbps in the evening for peak viewing. (My service is not throttled by the way it's all service that is slow). Breakfast TV is OK if you really watch that rubbish!
