Peter, do you turn your router off when not in use, because I know that have cause bad effects if you don't.

Julie, I have never heard that! I do every now and then power down the router and the wireless for ten minutes, then restart.

POR,
Perhaps you're not cranking the handle fast enough.

I think " turning off" and "powering down" will have the same effect.
Why do we start using strange terms for anything electronic?

From post F & L..................
"20mbps cable broadband for €18 per month (inc IVA) seems pretty good value to me"
That's very good value............when looking at Broadband suppliers, Fibre is going to be the best for speed and not losing quality away from "the Exchange"

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Half a mile from you POR, more or less, and also with Riosat. At 8.20pm tonight I'm getting download 3.72 Mbps, upload 1.27 Mbps and ping 77ms. Sometimes download is below 1 but my norm is around 3. Can't explain why the difference between us. I assume your receiver is pointing at the transmitter at Comares with a clear view and not shifted. I would have expected us to get similar results.
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

Re: UK moaners don't know they're born!
My wireless points at a station somewhere over your left shoulder, on top of a hill. We cannot see Comares.
I complained but got a waffly prewritten email saying that speedtests were not the be-all etc, and that I must accept that the signal through WiFi would be slower etc. etc. They also said there was "an issue with the station "I come off last night. Note, no apology, promise that things would get better, offer of a refund for service downtime.
The only reason I test is to have a measure of just how bad the service is, and it is not through a WiFi network, but plugged into an extender through the mains wiring, so equivalent to being straight off the router...
Just now, I got 2.49 with a ping of 121. If it was at that level all the time I would be content.
They have been here too long, and have got right into the Spanish idea of "customer service".

Riosat can definitely tweak their service depending who you are and how much you hassle them.

And,of course, how politely you request to be tweaked.
