Monitor settings

Postby chrissiehope » Fri May 09, 2014 1:50 pm

I have a LG E2242C - BN monitor, which is a very wide screen. When we first got it, I managed to alter the settings so that it 'fitted' a normal window (4:3 ratio ?).
This morning I ran Advanced System Care and Driver Monitor, and now the screen is back to wide  I've tried changing it using the buttons under the bottom edge of the screen, but I can't change the ratio
I've downloaded the manual from the LG site, but can't find a solution there either.

Help please - my eyes are hurting....

Hi Enrique

I already looked at Display, but couldn't see anything that would help

I'm XP not 7, so no restore

But I will uninstall Advanced System Care 7 Driver Monitor :)

I'll let you know what happens...

If you have a wide screen monitor, why would you want to run it at 4:3?

The wide format will allow you to get more windows on the screen at the same time.

I run my emails in one window with the browser alongside in another window.

Enrique - I have now replied (I was out shopping) with both an email & a PM

Sid - its so wide that all the font sizes etc are tiny - only the central part of the screen is being used, the rest is just filled in, so on here for example, the screen is approx 47 cm, of which only the middle 22cm has anything useful on and the remainder of the screen is filled in with the green

That's why you need to get used to having two windows up at the same time. Don't forget that it is easy to increase the size of the text in the browser window by keying ctrl+ until it's the size you want.

If you only want one window then you can drop the screen resolution down which will make the window bigger, but that's not the best way.

I often have four windows open at the same time, admittedly with some overlap but clicking on a window brings it up to the front.

If all else fails you could put it on its side and move the window through 90 degrees! I have a Dell 24" screen attached to my Windows Laptop which can rotate like that.

Windows XP does have system restore! explained here

In addition, double check your screen resolution in control panel, it may have been set to a standard value by the new driver and could need resetting to the value you require. You can also "roll back" the driver for the screen. In device manager look up your screen and choose "roll back driver" there which will hopefully put the older driver back in control.

Thanks for the replies - I had a play this morning & found the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver section in Properties / Display settings. I changed the resolution to 1440 x 900, which seems to have done the trick :-)
