OS Yosemite
OS Yosemite
Does anyone have any experience – good or bad – with the new Mac OS Yosemite? Just wanted to know of any glitches before downloading.
Re: OS Yosemite
There do seem to be a few negative comments on the App store about Yosemite.
Just looked at view on Macworld.
Pros
New interface (+ new icons)
Better iOS integration (when it works)
Broader Spotlight
Widgets in Notification Centre
Private browsing
New Mail features
Cons
Many of the Continuity features don't work - even on Macs that should support them
There's not much to sell it - especially if you can't take advantage of Continuity
WiFi is a nightmare!
I've just added new ram and a solid state rive to my Macbook, which has made a massive difference so am not updating the system until a few of the bugs have been sorted.

Re: OS Yosemite
Updated Macbook Pro from Mavericks to Yosemite 10.10.1 in Mid Oct. In my case it was seamless with no conflicts encountered. The new improved Spotlight is a great addition.
Also not had any problem with wifi, however, OH's early 2014 macbook air did encounter a wifi glitch which was easily sorted setting's-network etc.
All round works pretty flawlessly as you'd expect from Apple OSx in my experience.

Thanks as always, just reluctant especially if there's a wifi glitch I'll wait a bit before updating my iMac I think
Re: OS Yosemite
Updated iMac and Macbook pro without a problem. Several updates in the 1st few days but no problems. Go for it.

Re: OS Yosemite
No problems with my iMac. The continuity features are great - I can now take and make phone calls and texts from my iMac and the ability to start an email or document on my iPad and finish it on the iMac is also very useful.
When I lost my Internet access recently the iMac just connected through the iPhone automatically.
The only thing that doesn't work yet is the iCloud drive integration with the photo app on the iPad but that was highlighted in the Yosemite announcement.
