phone call from Windows

I received a phone call this morning from a woman, speaking English but with a very strong foreign accent. She said she was calling from Windows as they'd noticed some 'out of the ordinary' activity on our computer. She wanted me to switch the computer on so that she could run through anti virus, malware etc with me. I told her it wasn't convenient & could she ring back tomorrow.

Has anyone else received a call like this? OH thinks I'm being over cautious but............

Had the same, a man who told my husband that we had problems with our computer. My husband replied that we didn't have a computer. Yes he said I'm sitting watching it now. No said my husband and hung up. They will try anything.
