Classic Shell for Win8.1

Postby ebbnflow » Fri Jan 16, 2015 8:46 pm

I have been asked to install Classic Shell on an elderly relatives new laptop (Win8.1) as he finds W8.1 much too different. Person in question only uses basic functions, email, word, excel, photo handling, printing and only minimal surfing. Mainly familiar with XP but has been using Win7 more recently.

For myself I'm quite happy with 8.1 after performing a dozen or so well documented adjustments to make it more keyboard/Win7 friendly.

The questions are;
Is this a recommended option baring the above in mind?
Is there a standard set up that is recomended in this circumstance or should there be a few/a bevy adjustments made after installation to make it optionally user friendly and which are the most recommended.

TIA

Hi

I am also new to Windows 8 and have upgraded to 8.1 already. Have installed something called Start Menu 8.This works fine for me. Click on Desktop View is recommended. I did not know about Classic Shell for Windows 8. See my link below.

Thanks for the answers.
I'll take that as a thumbs up for Classicshell or other Win7 emulators. :thumbup:
