I'm running XP2, and tho' this is no longer supported by Microsoft, I still get the occasional update, usually the Malicious software removal tool.
However, every day this week, I have had the little yellow shield advising me that there is a new version of this tool to download (April 2015), and every day it's the same one !! I'm now getting fed up with it - I know I can turn off 'Updates', but I don't particularly want to miss any.
How can I stop this current one ?

Re: Windows Update
Did it install properly the first time? Check update history to see.

Hi chrissiehope,
As your version of Windows XP SP2 will only get that particular update , just disable this update.
Where..........in Update Manager..........right click and Hide Update.
I trust you're not using this system for any serious computing, Banking etc..........

Re: Windows Update
OK I've got rid of it by unticking the select box & the don't show me this again box - next month I will re-instate it to get the version for May.
And yes, I use it all the time for everything - I run Malwarebytes every day and have free Avast! - what sort of problems are you hinting at ?

Re: Windows Update
Hi chrissiehope,
You should be ok with your setup, keep with Malwarebytes daily in your case.
Any reason why you don't upgrade to XP Service Pack 3, then you could run the latest Firefox Browser. This would ensure latest Browser security features.

Re: Windows Update
Sorry - should have said XP3 - I do use Firefox, but only for sites that won't use IE anymore. I know, I know, it's only habit that stops me, and the fact that for example, I haven't been able to work out how to refresh a page on Firefox ....

Hi chrissiehope,
"I haven't been able to work out how to refresh a page on Firefox "
Firefox...at end of URL bar, before the Search bar is a almost circular arrow, click on that to refresh page.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it
