Movistar Telephone & Internet outage

Postby pensure1988 » Sat Oct 10, 2015 9:52 am

I have a Friend living in Princess Cristina,Manilva whose Movistar Telephone & Internet Service went off last night at 08:30pm and only came back online at 06:30am this morning. This is not the first time it has happened to her and Friends in Guadalupe as well as La Poloma. Are any other Forum Users experiencing the same outages in these areas. This has been occurring every so often for a few Months now. Movistar has been contacted and appear not to be aware of these problems. Could it have something to do with the present Fibre Optic Cable installations. But I don't really expect it to affect existing networks.

Thank You

Yes,it was reported and Service was restored without any explanations given. But Movistar are quite difficult to deal with ,as they all speak Spanish all the time, except in some instances when somebody does speaks a little English.

Send them a simple text message to 1002. They usually respond within a few minutes to tell you they are checking the line.

I'm sure they can manage "the line doesn't work" in Spanish.

Hi Sid

My Friend in Buenos Noches tried doing that the other day and his Text Messages kept on getting rejected. Eventually he got the lady in the Sabinillas Movistar Shop to assist him in his Complaint.

Like Endesa, Telefonica (Movistar) can be impossible to deal with. They have to do it deliberately.

We have found too that it is usually very effective to make a service complaint in one of retail shops dedicated to that company (Movistar, Vodafone...). These locations not only normally have English on tap, but also know exactly who to tackle. They also know that they won't get rid of you until the problem has been cleared.

We've had some really helpful service at the Vodafone shop inside Centro Comercial La Cala (Rincon de la Victoria), next to Carrefour. Several unwarranted Vodafone seizures of PAYG credit and unnecessary demands for top-up have been knocked on the head, with their help. Sympathetic staff here.

Most of the shops in centro commercial speak English but really as you are living in Spain you should be able to complain in Spanish.

Wonder if it could be co-incidence or just sods-law, but all our ppv channels (BT and Sky) on our IPTV here in Sevilla, went off last evening at around 20:30, and partially returned with sound only later in the evening. All other channels continued to work okay, and everything is working this morning. We wondered if the "authorities" had temporarily caught-up with the providers and had blocked the service either at source or en route particularly with the Sevilla and Barcelona games on BT last evening?

We managed to watch through the Virgin app, using our vpn, but......

Any thoughts welcome

Vincent
