I have recently bought (in the UK) a new HP laptop with Windows 10 installed. I have an HP Photosmart B110 "All in One" printer, scanner, fax - which works fine from the old laptop with Windows 7. The problem I have with the new laptop is that although I can print to the Photosmart - I can't "Scan to PC".
When I look on the laptop to see Printers etc installed - it shows it as being an All in One - but when I press Scan to PC on the Photosmart - it says Refer to Brochure (or similar unhelpful message!) I did get that sometimes on the "old" laptop, but could always do Scans via the HP Solution Centre - but this does not seem to exist in Windows 10. I've searched via Google and in the HP Support sites, but not come across the exact problem that I am experiencing. Please can someone help me! Many thanks.

sampedrena, you will need to install new software for windows 10.
Have you seen this page on the HP website, you can download from there.

Hi sampedrena,
I'm assuming you have correct Drivers for Windows 10 as per White Horse.........
Download and run HP Diag..............
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02073861
How close to the printer is the computer you're trying to scan from............?
Some light reading...........have a play with Section 6
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00040499
Stuff that's not in the Book...........Get the IP address of the printer..
How do I print a network configuration page?
Follow these steps to print the configuration page.
Touch the button (-) next to the Setup icon (spanner) in the lower-left corner of the printer control panel.
Touch the right arrow button (->) to select Wireless, and then touch OK.
Touch the right arrow button to select Wireless Settings, and then touch OK.
Touch the right arrow button to select Print Network Configuration Page, and then touch OK to print the page.
Hands dirty time now...........
Now run cmd as Administrator.
Ping the IP address of your printer........you should get a reply if the system can see it on the network.
i.e ping 192.168.0.120
What I've found with some Wireless printers...........can print but not scan.......need system closer to the printer or have a wireless range extender setup near the printer.
Set the printer to a Static IP address that is out of the range of your normal DHCP router settings.
Connect manually using the IP address.
So some feed back from your setup........from my above questions....
Thanks

Re: Windows 10 on new HP LapTop - can print but not scan
Oh Wow, Enrique - I'm not sure I could do all that!
For the last couple of hours I've been using the HP Print and Scan Doctor - and downloading various stuff which it told me was missing on my new PC. And it's worked - thank goodness! I can now Print and Scan from the Photosmart to the new laptop. It also installed the HP Solution Centre, which I always found very helpful on the "old" laptop, so that's something of a bonus.
So - once again - many thanks.

Hi sampedrena,
Thanks for the update........... good the Diag program worked ok for you, saved getting your hands dirty.......
Some of those HP Tools are worth having on your system even if you haven't got a HP printer.

Another thing to remember, even wih a brand new printer (all in one etc) is that the CD/DVD of software that comes in the box is unlikely to be the latest version of drivers and software. I always download the latest, appropriate software from the manufacturers support site.
