Hi Miro,
Its picking up your location from your Spanish IP, SmartyDNS doesn't change your IP.

How are you getting on with the Home plugs have they arrived...... :?:

Just read your Delivery Post.........they arrived then....... :?:

Right. Just showing my ignorance of IP addresses / DNS  Above my pay grade!
I could ask at this point why I get English ads on ITV, but that would be silly!

Yes, homeplugs installed yesterday and I'm happy to report that (so far) Casa Miro is a Buffer Free Zone
Still baffled as to why the WiFi is so poor though, and the HiFi still drops the connection even though I've wired that in to the homeplugs too.
Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

The great thing about DNS servers is that they only come into play when you use certain websites and Apps.
When you log on to ITV you are routed through your Smart DNS server, but when you log on to any other site, you use your normal ISP DNS servers.

How do you know that? Presumably the Smart DNS server does the usual service that any other DNS server does?

If you change the DNS in the router, it would not have any other option but to use the SmartDNS server.

I wrote the post in a way that would be simple to understand.
I don't know the ins and outs of how it works but its' different from a VPN.Should you be using a UK one, you appear you are in the UK,for every UK site
This isnt the same for a DNS because not all sites and gadgets work

Hi USINSPAIN,
Can you login to the Router, if so go to the DNS setting which will normally be disabled and set it to the one you want and Enable. Save and logout.

The newer Movistar routers are simple but if they lumbered you with an older model they are much more tricky but doable. They supplied a friend of mine with an older model but we got there in the end....can you take a pic of the router and put up on here

Hi USINSPAIN,
Have you still got Teamviewer on your system, if so and the last 4 numbers of the ID are 7292 then send the Password though on Skype and give me convenient times so I can move this Forward for you.

Thanks

Sorry about posting this on wrong thread

I tried a Satellite router a while ago but it was no good as we could not change the DNS setting in the router to allow us to have the NOWTV box, reading on here about using an old router as a bridge could that be a solution connect the old router to the new satellite router and change the DNS in the old router, hope this makes sense
Thank you

You don't say what Satellite router you tried.
If it was a Tooway satellite router then , as I have posted previously on other threads, Tooway does port hijacking so doesn't matter what you try there is nothing you can do to change the DNS.
That is one of the reasons I stopped using Tooway satellite.

I know that some satellite internet operators (inc tooway) you contact them with your preferred country and they change it at their end....
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

Tooway wouldn't do it for me even when I gave notice of termination of the contract because of port hijacking.

I now have a 4G router on which I can't change the DNS settings.
As it only has one ethernet port then I'm not to bothered.
I have a router, with 4 ethernet ports connected to it.
I have changed the DNS settings on this router.
My computers, TV box and TV are all connected to this router.
Cheers
