My car has a pretty old radio/cd setup. It does not have a aux input or a usb port.
It does read mp3 discs so I can and do bung a cd in with about 200 mp3 tracks.
Is a dvd physically the same dimensions as a cd (it does look so), so if I insert a dvd it won't mechanically damage anything?
My plan being to use a dvd with a few more mp3 tracks.

Whilst a DVD is physically exactly the same size as a CD, you may well find however that your CD player can only read CD disks, not DVD disks.

If you want to try a DVD in it, it won't do any harm to the CD player, it just might not be able to read it and therefore not play it.

I'm pretty sute it won't read a DVD .
Is it old enough to have a cassette player? If so you can plug an adaptor into that to create a port for other devices.Pretty cheap too.Example: ... B001ALQ5Q6

No chance at all that it will read it but also it will not do any damage. You will get a message on screen saying unreadable disc.
