Android TV box recommendations

I've just about had it with my android box and am very close to introducing it to my largest hammer. I spent a lot of time looking at specs and the MXq M10 is on paper pretty good. In practice it's a pile of cr*p. Keeps hanging, won't work with playstore, clock resets, the list goes on.

Time to buy yet another methinks.. One that sits there and works as advertised.

I won't load it up with dozens of apps just the various TV players and Kodi.

What android boxes are people using and are happy enough with that they would buy the same one again should it go bang?

I had an android box, lasted a year or so and was very good but then starting going [frustratingly] wrong until one day it simply would not work (it was expensive as well). I replaced it with a Now TV Box (less than £20) and have to say it really is brilliant for BBC, ITV live and Ch4 Ch5 catchup and, if you subscribe (£6.99 a month) the Sky entertainment package is superb (you also have the opportunity to subscribe to Sky Sports or sky movies as and when you want).

I then use my laptop (plugged into large TV via HDMI) for any films we may want to watch via Showbox, Popcorntime or CartoonHD.

Fully agree with Martin, you can't really go wrong with NOWTV box and if you sideload Filmon onto it even better, as said on here before the Filmon quality is way better then all other versions I've seen. Also have an Amazon Firestick for Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Another vote for a NowTV box it's a real Plug and Play system.
I also gave up on my Android box.

Nope I want to get a complete as I can one box solution. Which should be easily doable, and is pretty much what I have now, but one that keeps working reliably, or as reliably as I can expect from Android.

I have a smart TV, an LG, but never use the 'smart' stuff pretty much used just as a display for the android box.

Had difficulty today trying to watch the FA Cup final on my Now TV box, to much buffering, switched to my Mac with HDMI connection and had no problems and a much better picture quality. Also use a Minix X7 android box for other things, works well, I use a bluetooth keyboard.

I have an RK3188 and an M8 box - both old but bought from Entertainment Box in Walthamstow - so I use the Wookie - not had real problems - but yes it does buffer at times - but normally OK

F.A Cup final watched here on Nowtv Box buffer free. Used to get a bit of buffering usually between 6-8 some evenings but thats not occurred at all since getting Fibre Optic a few weeks back.
I would take a look at the ROKU 3 which should give you all you're looking for.

Amazon Fire tv box is excellent and at its core it is an Android so loads of stuff can be sideloaded on easy to.

You can play your video library on NOWTV if you sideload Plex onto it. If you choose to sideload Filmon, there's a now and next EPG.
The Amazon Firefox allows installation of KODI. there are a couple of addons that have EGPs.


But in the end all we want to do is sit down in front of the TV, switch on the TV and relax without frustrations, The Freesat option gave us all that but that's gone. For me both The Now TV box and my Samsung smart TV makes watching TV simple.
Even in the UK I think people will be using the old style of watching TV less and less and use Smart TV for the convenience it offers.

I can recommend the Amiko A3 Alien from Lavatronics. I have two,one in Uk and one in Spain.
It deals with Kodi and the other android apps well plus it has a proper satellite tuner to you can get all the freesat channels on 28e.
I understand it will also run Oscam so if you had an (illegal) cardsharing line you could watch sky inc sports and movies in Spain.
It also has a bay for an internal hdd so it will act as a recorder too.
It only has 2gb ram but seems to run everything I ask it to.
