Laptop not starting up - URGENT HELP NEEDED
HELP PLEASE!!!!!!
My main computer is not starting up, Its was windows 7 now windows 10 for 18 months.
I turn it on and I get the blue windows icon and a circle spinning rounds and round. this circle is like the buffering you see on film on.
Ive done a memory check and hard drive check and it seems fine. I think the start up program on windows 10 has changed or been changed maybe by me accidental of something I may have unwittenly downloaded.
I have sent all day trying to resolve this and the family are going mad as all the films and programs are on this machine. I am using my tablet at the moment but this is not a long term solution as I need a computer
I cant find how to at least start the computer in Safe mode in windows 10. so I can at least get most of the data and documents off the machine.
PLEASE ANY HELP OR ADVICE WOULD BE VERY APPRECIATED.

Just tried it again, had to have more than one go, but got into safe mode and booted Win 10 in safe mode.
Perhaps I'm lucky?

Hi,
From HP................
Turn on your computer and repeatedly press the esc key until the Startup Menu opens.
Begin a System Recovery by pressing F11. If prompted, select your keyboard layout.
The Choose an option screen displays. Click Troubleshoot.

Re: Laptop not starting up - URGENT HELP NEEDED
OnlyThe very early evaluation copies of Win10 had the F8 shift command set to enabled, so if you were one of those then great, but for the overwhelming majority of Win 10 users it doesn't work as all the documentation available tells you it is Disabled by defaultgerryh wrote:Just tried it again, had to have more than one go, but got into safe mode and booted Win 10 in safe mode.

Hi,
Try a Hard Reset............
Turn off the computer.
Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices, such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
Remove the battery from the battery compartment.
Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.
Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
Press the Power button to turn on the computer.
On the Options screen, select Continue and continue to Windows 10.
If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, then press the Enter key.
Reconnect each of the peripheral devices.
This is the time when you should have had a current Backup and just restored it.........you would have been up and running in 30 mins...........

Re: Laptop not starting up - URGENT HELP NEEDED
So you have a second Windows system ?
If so download the windows 10 .iso and use Rufus to put it on a USB , you will then be able to Boot the sick system and do a Repair on the startup.
