Re: Facebook question
Hi,
Limit the audience for your old posts for your Timeline This will revert all your previous posts from "Public" or "Friends of Friends" to just "Friends". But if you've tagged a Friend in one of your posts, their Friends can see that since that is the default setting when tagging someone.

Re: Facebook question
Thanks Enrique.
My setting has been friends right from the start.
My problem is that someone is learning about my life, thru stuff I put on FB, and I don't want them to.
It could be that one of my FB friends is feeding them the info and there's nothing I can do about that

Re: Facebook question
That doesn't sound good - if it were me I'd either get rid of all 'friends' or just close the account, leave it a while & then open a new one, monitoring friends closely.......

Just cancel your Facebook account. If you want privacy Facebook should be avoided like the plague.RichardCoeurdeLion wrote:Thanks Enrique.

Re: Facebook question
Thanks Chrissie and Sid.
I accept that by using FB I am exposing my life.
This latest incident happened thus... I posted about something that had happened to me. One of my friends made a comment on their page about it and one of their friends friends saw it and took great delight in my misfortune.
However I do get a lot of pleasure from it. It enables me you keep in touch with real friends and I learn stuff. Without FB I wouldn't have been contacted by someone I hadn't heard of for 45 years and ended up playing in his band, which is now my main hobby. We have a little FB group where We live and people respond to requests for help or come and collect stuff you are throwing away or give you recommendations for things. So there is a good side to it.
I can put up with the irritation from the person involved, just a bit annoying.
FB can be rather addictive which is something else to think about.

In case you are not aware, there is an option to block anybody you don't want to see your posts on Facebook.

Re: Facebook question
There are lots of security and privacy options in Facebook, but they are not easy to find (deliberately) and most users are completely unaware of their existence or how to set them up, rather like Windows 10 in fact.
Used with care and some commonsense, FB has its good points, but used carelessly is an absolute minefield that will surely come back to bite you at the most inconvenient time in the future.

Re: Facebook question
Absolutely 100% spot on Sid, unless you really pay attention and set it up properly to suit you it can be very intrusive and leave you open to all sorts of unexpected things.....As you say "to be used with care and a massive dollop of common sense"

Re: Facebook question
Thanks for the further Input.
Spanish..... Yes I know I can block people from reading my stuff but that didn't stop them seeing what our mutual friend posted.
I've asked the mutual friend to kindly refrain from posting anything about me.

Re: Facebook question
If you tag someone in a post then friends of that someone can see it. Or if they commented on your post their friends can see it on their timeline.
Or if your friend just wrote about you on their timeline theres nothing ypu can do except ask them not to write about you unless they dont mind changing their settings as to who sees their posts
