Google 1984 ??

Postby Parilla » Thu Jul 27, 2017 11:44 am

Not sure how I feel about this.

Yesterday, we booked a couple of short breaks over the internet, and received the usual emails, confirming dates, venues and flights.

This morning, my wife was checking her calendar on her smartphone, and was amazed to find all those details of both trips, including flight numbers, had been put into her calendar - and a note saying this info had been extracted from emails !!

I don't think I'd be very keen on that - I'm already irritated by the way ads show up relating to things I've googled, or bought online :-(

Sorry but thats the way it is. Everything you google or buy has a value to somebody. This info is then sold on. The only safe way is bin your computer but then you wouldn’t be able to come on this forum.

I'm sure I could get by ok without access to this forum, but I couldn't get by if all my internet banking and savings accounts were got at and swiped, that's what concerns me.

Simply turn the Function OFF in settings......After they did it for the FIRST time you would have got Notification from them explaining this and how to turn it off if NOT required

Open an incognito browser window (if using Chrome - it will be called something else in other browsers), or clear all your history & cookies after every session - use something like CCleaner. You'll still get ads, they just won't be relevant to you!
Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often
