Unsolicited pop ups

Postby Manchesteral » Sun Jun 07, 2020 1:11 pm

When I open the Daily mail page a pop up appears purported to be from Vodaphone, this only happens on the Daily mail page and will not allow me to continue, any ideas how to get rid of this, I'm sure it's a scam, any thoughts ?

I am having the same problem on every website with a pop up from BT. Cant continue to browse without answering their survey. I have opted to open another window and live the advert in original window. This seems to cure the problem.

Is this on a tablet/phone or on a computer? Have you tried a different browser? I usually use Firefox Focus and don't get this problem although I also use Block This.

I have the same problem with pop up ads especially for women's clothing company called Yvette. despite reporting them via google and changing my 'based on' settings, they appear on A.com too

Hi telboy,
As you don't say which Browser you're using.............. Google Chrome

https://support.google.com/chrome/answe ... ktop&hl=en

You could always use and Ad-blocker for your Browser............. or OTT......... run your own DNS server and regulate what you want to see......

It’s the price you may for a free Internet. If we were all happy to pay Google €10 a month you would not see any ads It’ s only going to get worse and so many sites won’t open unless you disable your adblocker.

Just think what a paper copy of The Times would cost of it didn’t carry adverts.

Hi telboy,
Its been a month since your last post above..........so you still having Pop-ups......... :?:

https://www.lifewire.com/manage-pop-up- ... ri-4136249

Can manage pop-ups on site basis .

Something to try for me.............

If you use your ISP Default DNS Server change your DNS to

either

1.1.1.1 = CloudFlare DNS

or

208.67.220.123 or 208.67.222.123 = OpenDNS Family Shield
