ALternatove to JAZTEL

Postby john the baptist » Tue Nov 24, 2020 10:15 pm

HI Jazztel are on the verge of cutting us off because of their inflexibility. To be honest i appreciate their point but its rediculous.
We have been with Jazztel Fibre for over 3 years but the contract was made by the landlord and we get the bills and they are paid out of our account.

We wanted to add a couple of mobile phone lines to the package and that's went the it all went wrong, the refuse to speak to me as Im not the their customer, I spoke to my landlord and he said internet is only thing as its property based and EVERYONE need it but he wont sign off on a couple of phone lines one is for me and the other is my daughter.

So im stuck between a rock and a hard place, Jazztel are not flexible, and in the end it looks like we will be cut off and have to start again with a new carrier. As we could not wait we got a couple of pay as you go sims to keep in touch for school runs etc.

SO MY QUESTION IS CAN ANYONE RECONMEND A COMPANY THAT WORKS SLIGHTLY INLAND (NOT THE COSTA) THAT WILL PROVIDE GOOD VALUE FIBRE IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ULTRAAST AS UK TV IS PROBABLY ITS LIMIT. I BELIEVE WE HAVE 48 HOURS BEFORE THEY COME TO CUT US OFF SO ANY HELP WOULD HELP.

OBVIOISLY I WOULD LIKE A GREAT DEAL THE FIBRE CARBLE DOES INTO THE HOUSE ALREASY SO I DONT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT €39.99 INSTALLATION FEE BECAUSE THEY RIPPED OFF BEFORE. IDEALLY I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH MOVISTAR WHO HAVE THE RUDEST SOUTH AMERICAN CALL CENTER AGENTS.

ALL I NEED IS A BASIC LAND LINE (FREE CALLS IF THE NORM) AND fibre INTERNET. I live in the Campo de Gibraltar near san roque so any specialist company based in a town or costa del sol wont be any good.

I look forward to some recomendatorios many thanks in advance.

Have you tried Movistar? Their coverage is huge now.

I would also suggest Movistar. None of these other second rate third party providers are worth bothering with.

HI Dave

No offence but have you been on the Vino this morning??? Does Gibtel cover my Area??? Im guessing Gibtel does not have telecommunication licence IN SPAIN. Please forgive my British sarcasm but its in the name they are a telecoms company for GIBRALTAR!!!!!!!!!
Spain does not even allow WIFI transmitters to re feed WIFI into Gib.
Cheers for the advice Dave, but no Gib tell have not ventured 20 km in to the Cadiz countryside to my house. I let you know when they get here,

Always appreciate thanks again Dave,

Thanks everyone i will give Movistar a call they own the fibre and practically everything, they do abuse their monopoly. initial cheap prices then time after time more small charges then your paying 60e a month. caller id, electronic answer phone, paper billing, installation costs even though ive paid for it already. admin charges VAT on VAT etc, but the worse are the rude south America *beep* that all they want to do is practice their english but always insist they are based in Madrid when they are clearly subcontracted call centre in a cheap latino country which i have no issue with but they just love to put you on hold and regardless on who you are talking to its the wrong department.
However occasionally you do get a superb bright eficiente amazing person that listens to your problem and resolves it. At this point you have to sit down and compose yourself as this a once in a year occasion.

For what i need Movistar is extremely expensive, Ive already bought into the 600mb bull *beep*, but the fibre is not direct to house, its direct to the box at the end of the street. also the main feeder fibre cable is 1km from my house which is as far as the village can be. Plus no one get 600gm unless your not using wife and have literally bought the latest generation IT system. My icore I3 is good enough for me and the 8gb ram is ok.

cheers again, i know in Algeciras there is a great company that deals mainly with people without bank accounts and offers great deals, but they don't cover my area alas we are not fresh off the boat. its amazing if you shop around they will through in free UK calls as well including mobiles, but not Movistar.

Hola

Gibtel are actively putting fibre optic cables in Chiclana - quite a few miles from Gibraltar

That's strange. I live in the campo about 2km from the village and the cables come straight into the router. 600mb WiFi 100% of the time. Also my mobile gets 150mb on Movistar 4G.

Yes, same here. A Movistar technician called us out of the blue a couple of days ago and asked if we wanted fibre. We told him that we were in the middle of nowhere despite having a proper landline and he said that he knew where we were and that he was just down the lane and could call now if we wanted.

He called on us within five minutes and said he would put in an order now and would come back and install fibre right into our router. The nearest point of entry into the house is at least 500 metres from the lane and so I thought we would have to carry on with the installation from there but he said that he would do the complete job at no cost for installation.

I have checked my Movistar account online and the procedure for changing the contract from ADSL to fibre is already under way.

I am well impressed.

To achieve the fastest Wifi. you must connect to the 5GHz bandwidth. If you connect to 2.4GHz, it is unlikely you will get top speeds. I get around 80mbs with the 2.4GHz bandwidth but almost 500mbs on the 5GHz.

The trade off is the 5ghz doesn't extend as far as the 2.4GHz bandwidth.

I don't have Movistar but I think it is a myth that they don't offer a good service. Most people around here use Euskaltel, the local reginal government's company, or Movistar. Euskaltel were the first to offer super fast speeds so as I have had very few problems, I have stuck with them while reviewing my service on a regular basis in order to make sure I am not paying over the odds.

No service is absolutely perfect and problems do happen from time to time but in my experience both resolve them pretty fast.

Movistar but the prices for Movistar Fusion are still expensive in my opinion.
