I have an HP Convertiblex360 laptop with touch screen. I don't use it in tablet mode so use a combination of touch screen with the normal keyboard for typing.
Every now and then the 'Touch keyboard' symbol appears in the task bar and every time I go to type something, up pops the touch screen keyboard which covers half the screen. I can't remember how I turned it off last time it happened but it is annoying keeping popping up. As soon as I type using my normal keyboard it disappears again but I can't seem to make it go away.
On Googling I've found to hold ctrl/WIN/0 to turn it on and off but this doesn't make it stop. I'm not sure I want to permanently disable it as I think that affects the normal usage of the laptop. The touch screen icon is not usually there in the taskbar but just suddenly appears all by itself.

Re: Touch keyboard - turn off?
Hi Wicksey,
Try this............
Hold down the Windows key and press R.
Into the Run box type services.msc and hit enter.
Scroll down to 'Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service'.
If the service is currently showing as Running, right click it and select Stop.
Next, right click it again and select Properties.
In the dropdown box next to 'Startup type:' select Disabled and then click Apply and Ok to save the change.
Restart the notebook.
Lets know how you get on....... Thanks

Re: Touch keyboard - turn off?
It is shown as running and on automatic on start up, but when I right click the options to start stop etc are greyed out. I tried changing it to manual but there's still no option to stop it.

Hi Wicksey,
I've just looked on a similar system..............Windows PRO20 with detachable keyboard
Scroll down to 'Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service'...........greyed out for me too, no need to Stop
Right click on the service select Properties and disable -> Apply and then Reboot........... it will /should not start

Thanks Enrique I'll give that a go when I have a chance. It did stop by itself before but this time is just keeps popping up.
