Hi snorbs.
On the Window 10 system..... Open up a CMD window.....click on Start , type CMD
In the CMD window type ipconfig /all............depending if you're on wifi or direct ethernet look for the "DNS Servers"

Please Post the result for "DNS Servers" also the "Default Gateway"

Northandsouth:: Can you do above as you have a working Avatel connection........... thanks

Thanks northandsouth,
On the system with those DNS settings.........will be using the ISP DNS Server so if in Spain all Spanish Apps should work, anything Geo-blocked like BBC iPlayer will not.

Yep I just use a secondary router for the smartdns

i use smart dns but not on a second router but on the devices, they have confirmed to me this should not affect the devices which dont have the smart dns servers configured, i have asked avatel to change my ip address to see if this helps - no response, I am not finding their responsiveness very inspiring, this issue has been raised with them since Wednesday morning and no one has called me and no technician has been sent to the house. not impressed. a few emails telling me its being looked into is all i have from them.

The problem can be that certain apps recognise a DNS is being used and will not work. I'm surprised SmartDNS didn't tell you that DAZN will not work using a DNS sever because they told me when I asked.

Before Brexit, It was perfectly possible to use the Spanish version of DAZN in the UK but only without the DNS settings.

mark i am using DAZN on a device that has no DNS activated.
Smart DNS proxy told me if their DNS service is activated on a firestick that should not impact the samsung smart hub or any other device which did not have the dns service activated
equally this was all working fine until start of this week long after brexit

i signed into smart dns proxy on 4g this morning and activated that IP address thus deactivating the one on my home devices. it didn't solve the problem but at least it discounts that its being caused by this.

i will continue trying to push Avatel my ISP tomorrow - they dont appear to respond on weekends. so far I had a ticket logged with them since Wednesday and no one called me and no technician sent to our house - very disappointing, all i get is a few emails telling me someone will be in touch and to be patient.

i tried to move all the devices back to how it was before this happened and now i have lost my smart hub completely.
i get a message saying internet is not stable and therefore the terms and conditions dont download to allow you to accept them and change country.
reading about this it happens apparently when you buy a tv in one region and take it to another eg US and move to asia. i clearly havent done that something really odd is going on....

Have you spoken to DAZN ? In you first post you wrote you can watch the UK version .
Do you subscribe through Movistar or directly with DAZN?

i subscribe to DAZN directly but i cant get Movistar lite app to work either or atresplayer do its not a DAZN specific issue

Download this App on a Windows system.........run and click on the result this will display line (connection) quality

https://www.speedtest.net/apps/windows

if all is well the expected numbers.........or very similar please post your result.

Still not making much progress with Avatel.
I decided to google where is my IP address and it comes up as Gibraltar rather than Spain.
I am not far away from Gibraltar so not sure how accurate these results would be - same result from various sites.
if its correct it would explain why my DAZN app came up with an english spoken version with boxing only - it seems DAZN is available in Gibraltar with similar content to UK
any thoughts / feedback appreciated

Having a quick poke around ..........185.16.80.0 -> 185.16.83.255 are allocated to Avatel and Based in Gib.

Recent reviews in Spanish and English less than encouraging to getting issues fixed.

My neighbour let me log onto their wifi and everything worked ok so its 100% a problem with Avatel.
if the IP really is in Gibraltar that must be the problem.
i have advised them via the ticket message board i have open with them
hopefully someone will call me tomorrow
