Teamviewer

Postby Enrique » Fri May 21, 2021 4:42 pm

Hi,
This is a heads up for Members who do computer support for Family members and friends using the "Free Teamviewer"...........

Teamviewer now times out after 60 seconds and locks you out..........so basically unusable.

I'm currently looking into other "Free" remote desktop programs.............

............if any Members already use one that they would recommend they have my ear. :?:

I have used Team Viewer for ages. If they suspect you are using it for commercial purposes they block your account. If you explain that you are just helping friends occasionally they reinstate you. This happened to me a year or so ago and they reconnected me. It happened again a week ago and it only affected one remote PC. I contacted them and they reinstated me but it still times out with that one PC. it works fine with the others.

I have it set up for immediate remote access. I will try reinstalling the program from scratch with a new ID and I think that will cure it.

I looked at the Windows option but that seems to need Windows 10 Pro.

Great when it works but a commercial licence is very expensive.

Hi.
Good bye Free Teamviewer................

"I have it set up for immediate remote access. I will try reinstalling the program from scratch with a new ID and I think that will cure it. "........... not for me it didn't

olive:: Remote desk?.........you need Windows Pro for that one.

fincalospinos:: ZOOM:? too complicated for some of my "clients"........they have trouble just getting a basic Meeting running.

Currently looking a Google Chrome Remote and AnyDesk..........

Enrique, because you use Teamviewer to help several different people, that's probably why they incorrectly think you are using it for commercial purposes.

Presumably, those of us that just use it to help a single elderly relative now and again, we shouldn't be effected?

Hi SpanishBlue,
Like El Cid I've been using Teamviewer for many years ever since Logmein went the same way and only became interested in paid license.
There are many comments about the Timeouts recently on various Tech sites.
It's a very good Remote program, I hope it continues to work for you.

I'm liking AnyDesk for Windows systems, but having issues with it on my Linux armv7l systems.....
