Instagram: SMS

Postby jonbar.1 » Tue Aug 24, 2021 8:41 am

Yesterday I received 3 SMS messages: all delivered at the same time.
The 1st line of each message was a Spanish mobile number ( each of the 3 messages had it's own mobile number).
The 2nd line said : "<#> ( number) es tu codigo de Instagram SIYRxKrru1t "
I do not use Instagram.
Could anyone tell me what these messages are about?

Thankyou JB

Thanks Enrique.
Didn't realise Spams occured in texts!
I did actually block then delete them.
Thanks for your usual pragmatic approach to life Enrique. :)

Imo if you dont recognise a text dont even open it just delete. As the links in them are no different to malicious emails.

I agree Enrique.
I was just a little curious to know what they were.

it is possible but it would follow a log in on a new gadget,

My scam texts are usually from delivery services.
Even vigilant people can get caught out if say some type of coincidence occurs so you have to be really careful

It's odd that,30 mins before I got the texts,I had just made a couple of adjustments to my debit card settings, via the bank app.I originally thought it had something to do with that( some kind of confirmation/notification).I deleted them anyway, just in case.
