NEIGHBOUR WOULD LIKE TO USE MY INTERNET ACCESS

My neighbours are only here for a month. Usually they are here for a lot longer and therefore pay for a year with Axartel, however they want to be able to use my internet access. Will this have an impact on my own use and slow it down!!

I am with Axartel and it is not the fastest connection on the planet and I often have problems with band width, so will this make it worse if they also share it with me. Otherwise I do not mind, but I do not want it much slower than it already is.

Didnt look like a very good signal when I went up there, but there was definitely a signal.

It will make a difference to you. Bit simplistic but imagine it this way. Your internet connection is a hosepipe connected to a tap. Turn the tap on and all the water (data) comes out of the pipe. Insert a 't' piece into the pipe at your end splitting it into two. Run one pipe into your garden, tje other into your neighbours. You'll each get half the water (data) out of each of the two pipes.

Bit more complcated than that in real life, but you get the idea.

For future info your neighbours can do a pay as you go with axartel. Turned on when they are here turned off when they leave

If your speed isnt high and they are watching t.v then it might make a difference

Depending on the results you Post...........you could setup a Guest network on your router and limit the band width. This keeps them off your Local network.

What will they be using the connection for.......

I would also be concerned about the security of using internet banking etc.

That is a point isnt it! I ahd not thought of that. I will if I can set up Guest on the Router, but I fear not as I am not that techy!!
