Intelsat local news programmes

Postby Wicksey » Sun Aug 29, 2021 7:00 pm

In the past few weeks we've been getting Look North on BBC1 (non HD) when usually it goes to the BBC News channel after the main news. Today we noticed that on ITV we got the northern local news on that too whereas we used to get the London version. Presumably it's everyone that is getting this? Also Film 4+1 channel that disappeared some time ago is now showing 5 Select.

This is because the Intelsat service is being used to supply TV to various relay masts in the north of england, due to a fire at a main transmitter mast in the area - Bilsdale - that is out of operation, and will take time to sort out - https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-tees-58322004

Temporary relays are using a mix of Intelsat, and a frequency on Astra 2 to supply basic programmes to the area - http://admin.mb21.co.uk/tx/userimages/2 ... 091158.jpg
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

I remember seeing that fire on Look North, so that explains it, thanks.
