Windows 11 anyone?
Re: Windows 11 anyone?
Don't appear to have any problems here so far.
I can print to any one of my 3 printers, 2 Epson and one Samsung from Win 11 system via their USB connections.
I can print via Wifi to one of my Epson printers, the only one of my 3 printers that have a Wifi interface, from both Win 11 and Win 10 on my laptop.
Cheers
Gerry

Re: Windows 11 anyone?
I am reading the posts but I haven’t commented because I don’t usually print directly from my computer. I usually use my phone and print files from the cloud.
Apart from that, everything is fine. I like the new start menu but it did need setting up so my most used apps are at the top.

The best thing to do when a new operating system is released is to wait for bugs to be fixed.

Welcome to the forum.
If everybody waited for the bugs to be fixed then the bugs would never be discovered.

Hi,
I'm with Gerry on this one.........most software released today is not "finished" they rely on customers to use it and report any problems, There is software running in the OS that will report back to the Vendor.

Surely Microsoft have an easily available public beta testing program?

Microsoft will have access to many computers but not to all the myriad of printers, cables and boxes that they can be connected to. A bit like the Covid vaccine that could be trialled on a few then released to a bigger sample, then watched carefully as it went out to the many?

Re: Windows 11 anyone?
Beta testing takes into account all the peripherals that the user has, that’s the whole point of a beta test program.
I run all the beta test programs on my Apple devices and there is an app to report any problems. On the main OS for my iMac I think I have had about 8 versions over the last few months, actually without any problems. A complete OS upgrade takes about 10 minutes at most.

Hi Sid,
"Surely Microsoft have an easily available public beta testing program? "..........it's called Windows Insider Programme
You get the Preview Builds as they come out and you have to have the optional diagnostic data turned on.
I believe Gerry has in the past been in the Insider Programme.............me too......but these days I'm into Unix/Linux which was my first love..

Hi, thx for the welcome
I was talking about using a new operating system like Windows 11 on basic users, they are not going to discover bugs or take advantage of a new operating system.

Re: Windows 11 anyone?
The problem is I know people who don't upgrade because of the mantra wait until the bugs are sorted out, then never get around to it so as time goes on the older operating systems stop being supported
There is also a difference with Windows 11 because the update is being rolled out slowly. Most normal uninterested users, won't have it yet and won't until they are invited to download and upgrade.

Hi dxf,
Good you found that and Turned it (Remote Access) off.......
I would normally go through ALL the System Settings and Turn off/Disable anything I'm not using.

Re: Windows 11 anyone?
I had a look at installing Windows 11 on the older computer but decided not to bother.
No problem with Windows 11, in fact, It is a step up from 10 especially now I have found how do do stuff but Windows 10 is still fine as I only use the older laptops for very basic jobs or for students to use now and again.

Re: Windows 11 anyone?
Today, upgraded my Dell laptop to Windows 11. It took about 35 minutes after the download and seems to be working very well. It has a slightly different look, but so far so good.
