Older PCs will not be able to install it. I have tested my laptop and it has the correct specs but my much older desktop doesn't. As with all Windows updates, I will download it as and when it becomes available.
One interesting feature that has been promised but will not be available at the start is its compatibility with Android Apps

Been looking at it but my PC , bought in 2020 has a CPU that was released in May 2018 is considered too old to install Windows 11
Could upgrade the CPU for about €350

Hi Enrique
I will definitely download it as soon as I get the opportunity.
As I love mucking around with these things, I don’t mind the bugs.

I just hope I don’t have to eat my words and end up with major problems. I’ll keep you updated.

Hi Mark,
There will be a lot of disappointed current Windows users as the CPU requirements have to be fairly recent.
Intel CPU's have to be released later than >2019 with some exceptions.

Please keep me posted on your experience as at my current location my current PC's don't make the grade.......... :(

Did two laps of Bilbao on Tuesday as missed AP-8, had 57cents worth on the AP-8 to recover to A-8................

Will do.
Yes, It's easy to take the pay motorway but until it's completed, it is quicker to stay on the old road. You can see the new junction being built as you approach Bilbao and when completed will be worth paying the toll.

This is so like the reason I gave up on Apple for my computing. I had a computer with great graphics capabilities, safe and solid, then Apple brought out the first PowerMac, with a raft of programmes that would only run on these much more expensive machines. I bought a Windows PC and have stayed with Microsoft through all the W numbers. I nearly bought a new laptop, which may or may not be comfortable on W11, and wonder which apps will need to be replaced as W11 grows..

Been looking at installing Win 11 on my desktop PC.
My PC meets all the requirements except for CPU speed so can't download Win 11.
However, a Google search shows many ways of bypassing the requirements.
So far the ones I have loosed at are very complicated or didn't work for me.
Today I tried https://pureinfotech.com/bypass-windows ... ationtool/
Very easy to use and my PC has now been upgraded to Win 11
So far haven't found any problems.
Starts up quickly and seems faster.
The user interface is different but seems OK.

Before trying any method of installing Win 11 make sure to take a full and comprehensive backup of your PC.

If you try the method I tried and it doesn't work then don't blame me.

In the next few days, I will probably try this method on one of my laptops that meets very few of the requirements.

Cheers

I probably will do update until the weekend as I cannot risk any problems as I have some remote classes throughout the week.

Why is it that MS users are so worried about dodgy updates? Apple updates their OSs all the time with negligible problems.

I have installed 8 public beta upgrades to iOS 15 over the last few months with no problems at all. The same applies to the main OSX operating system for the various Mac laptops and PCs.

I have never had a problem with updates until now but there's always a first time. Windows 10 has been very stable. The issue with only being able to update on later machines is new to MS but over the years I haven't been able to install newer versions of IOS on older iPads.

I have always liked windows but have nothing against Macs either. My desktop is getting old and I will probably upgrade later this year and have been looking at the iMac 24 but it is a bit pricy, Is it worth it for a PC which its main use will be for admin while a Windows PC with similar specs will cost much less? I paid £1,250 for my latest laptop, half the price of a MacBook with similar specs

Hi,
Please Post any info on Windows 11 that you come across..........

Skype has now been relegated to the App Store and Teams is the default for calls/video chats.
Internet explorer (IE) is disabled, OneNote ,Paint 3D, and Windows 3D Viewer are now in App Store.

"Microsoft says that security updates will not be guaranteed for users that opt to install Windows 11 on an unsupported PC."

Some light reading for those that want to play.................

No update yet, I have a message in my Windows update page that my laptop is compatible but it is telling me that will have to wait until it is offered to me.

I suspect they won't be available to unauthorised instals.
I will check next Tuesday on my Win 11 and Win 10 systems.
But as Win 11 has only been officially released today next Tuesday might be a bit soon to expect any patches.

Upgraded tonight. In total it took well under an hour. Most of that time was the downloading and installing and I was able to keep using the laptop. The computer had to be restarted and that took about 5 minutes as the process completed which was very similar to my iPhone and iPad updates earlier this week.

All very smooth and the new layout is fine and as far as I can see all Apps are working fine. I had already taken the decision to move from ZOOM to Microsoft Teams which costs less but includes Office on all my Computers and gadgets 1TB cloud space for all the family up to 6TB in total and 60 minutes of Skype per month to UK landlines and other countries worldwide. Also saving me as I used Skype to call the UK.

The new layout is a move away from the Windows 10 look and although different, goes back to the old start menu from versions like Window 7. I would say it's more similar to the way my iPad is set out with the task bar icon at the bottom middle .Press the Widow key or icon and up pops the start menu in the middle. Edge is noticeably faster, pages load almost instantly but in fairness I have tested Chrome and that loads much better than before as well. A restart takes around 15 seconds
