Re: Windows 11 anyone?
Won't be installing 11 for some time, probably not until i replace my current pc. The last big windows 10 upgrade trashed my pc and rendered it unbootable. Ended up restoring a system drive image to get it working again.

Hi Mark & Gerry,
Thanks for the updated info............
Mark do you use a Third-Party Antivirus......
casita-bonita:: when doing Windows 10 "major" Feature upgrades i.e. jumping from 1903 to 21H1 I always disable third-Party AV and Disable any non-system programs that are in the Start up at Boot time. (Task Manager Startup Tab )
Having done a load of systems in the past 18 months for "clients" , Mostly remotely too.

Re: Windows 11 anyone?
I don’t use a third party AV nor any other unnecessary programs. They just cause my over 10 year old, still in use, desktop PC to slow down and freeze until the process has finished while stopping all other activities so some years back I uninstalled everything that wasn’t needed. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if an anti-virus is the cause of a bad install.
For example, on my older PC Adobe PDF reader, a fantastic program with plenty of features, but it wants to tell me all sorts of information and do regular updates, which slows the computer down. I mostly need it to read PDFs so I use a browser to read them, which uses a lot less power.
It is very easy to stick to the old ways but many of these big clunky programs are totally unnecessary these days as much can be done using cloud or online services which allows the PC to run more efficiently.

Had various Win 10 updates today and 3 Win 11 updates, one being KB5006674 which is a security update.

Re: Windows 11 anyone?
Hi,
So you have a recent Laptop/System 2019 on and you run "PC Health Check App" and find all is good except TPM is flagged up.
Goto your Manufactures site and update the BIOS......Asus and many others have pushed out an updated BIOS for their Mother Boards (MOB)
I have a Media Centre PC lurking in the corner , built it 2019 and after a BIOS update is Windows 11 Compliant.
So will be looking to get Windows 11 this weekend.............

Re: Windows 11 anyone?
I have been using it for over a week now and mostly it is fine, I like the new look with the new start menu, There are a couple of things that need looking into. For example, If I want to mirror my screen, the option to which screen to send the computer image to has disappeared.
Now it is necessary to go into the settings

Hi,
As the weekend has started......... rolled Windows 11 on using the "Assistant" option, very slick and quick, cleaner interface than a standard Windows 10, very similar to various Linux front screen layouts.
So what are you waiting for.............

What version of Win 10 is it running......... type Winver in search and run it
My last Win 10 update KB5006670.........installed no problem.

Re: Windows 11 anyone?
How early could I go? I have an earlier one, which gets used quite a lot, which is from about 2015.
The older ones which I just use when we are using interactive programmes in a class, probably around once every two months, I won't bother with them as I don't even connect them to the web unless I do maintenance and updates, no more than once a year.

Re: Windows 11 anyone?
I get Version 20H2 (OS Build 19042, 1237)
I had gone through all the suggestions on the HP site, the last being to restore to before the last update. I did this (took hours!) and have yet to try it this morning. I would have concluded that it was the printer except it works off the iPad…
Will update later..
EDIT. Now prints PDF files perfectly, so the finger of suspicion is pointing at the W10 update?

Re: Windows 11 anyone?
Hi,
Back to Windows 11............ working through Gerry's link.........sort of
Windows 10 PC that failed Heath Check........TPM and CPU.........sorted TPM with a setting in BIOS.
Image Backup of C: system drive......checked I can restore it using Reflect Backup/ Recovery.
Downloaded the Official MS .ISO Windows 11 file to disk..I have second HDD on the system.
Downloaded MediaCreationTool.bat
Ran Skip_TPM_Check_on_Dynamic_Update.cmd file
Double click on Windows.iso .........this mounts .ISO
click on setup and away you go , just answer the popup windows as they come up
In less than an hour Windows 11 is up and running and downloading two updates one being a Security one.
Have fun.
Mark:: try it on your 2015 System.........

Re: Windows 11 anyone?
Windows 11 works OK on my 2010 Acer Aspire 5741Z laptop.
Don't need to follow all the steps in the link posted in my earlier.
Winn 11, and the media creation tools, weren't available from Microsoft.'
Just need to run the Skip_TPM_Check_on_Dynamic_Update.cmd step and create a Win 11 creation step from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softwar ... /windows11.
Cheers
Gerry
Edited to add the following:-
The method I mentioned above will only work for an upgrade.
You can't do a clean install of Win 11 using this method as a clean install wipes the partition and hence the "fix" that Skip_TPM_Check_on_Dynamic_Update.cmd has applied before it starts to install Win 11.
Cheers

But is it actually worth the effort? I haven’t read any really positive reviews about why it is worth upgrading.

Hi,
What no one having any issues with Windows 11...........
A big show stopper for me......... Printing.. like you would have in a Home "Office" environment......
Printer attached via USB to one system......... shared so you can print from other systems in the "Office" via wifi.
Windows 10 to Windows 10 no problem......... windows 10 to Windows 11 Client system........ Printer.endless trying to load a driver.
There are other issues MS has highlighted namely with Brother Printers.
