I tried to update Chrome on my HP laptop but it kept coming up with an error message and suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the program. I uninstalled but now it won't install again and came up with another error message. I googled and the first thing suggested was to make sure Win10 was up to date.
Now trying to update Cumulative updates KB5005539 and KB5005565 but it says it is downloading but is stuck on 0%. Is it one of these updates that takes an age to do?
I am now using the phone to post this but it's not very convenient. Presumably I do need to do these updates to Win10? Chrome has been a pig this week, not loading Outlook properly and being slow, so I thought I'd check for updates and wish I hadn't now
Updating Win10 and Chrome problems
Re: Updating Win10 and Chrome problems
Just managed to get Chrome back after several attempts but it is still very slow at loading the Outlook page. No further progress on the Win10 update, still 0%.

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.
Re: Updating Win10 and Chrome problems
Thanks Enrique. It is 21H1 OS build 19043.1165
Chrome is working better this morning. I checked the updates and the 5539 has disappeared and the 5565 has at last said 100% although it did say it was an update for version 21H1. It may be sorting itself out .... possibly. I certainly don't want Win11 at the moment!

Re: Updating Win10 and Chrome problems
Most older PCs will not be able to update to Windows 11 unless you use the work arounds suggested by Gerry. in the Windows 11 thread.
Microsoft issued this disclaimer, probably a good idea to read it, should anyone want to go ahead.

Re: Updating Win10 and Chrome problems
I still have an old PC with Win7 that is working just fine. This laptop keeps freezing, Chrome keeps becoming unresponsive and even my documents file is doing it now. The update says Installing 100% so not sure if it's finished or not. I wouldn't even try to upgrade to 11.
Maybe there's something in the air as even the CH5 catch-up app on the TV went funny last night. The programme I wanted to watch loaded but then immediately went back to home page. If I was really quick with the play button I could 'catch' it and it would start to play. Honestly, having 2 Smartphones, a Smart TV a laptop and an old PC is a full time job sometimes!

Re: Updating Win10 and Chrome problems
I have one still running Windows XP, which only gets used when we are doing interactive stuff at work with bigger classes. It starts up fine but the programmes needs a bit more time to load.
Re: Updating Win10 and Chrome problems
At the moment Win7 is outperforming 10
