Submitting Images

Postby jonbar.1 » Wed Dec 01, 2021 8:59 pm

I seem to have lost the link to the website which enables me to upload images to my postings on the forum.
Please could someone let me have the details again ?
Many thanks

Hi jonbar.1,

Have a read of Gerry's Post on this link...........

viewtopic.php?f=32&t=40972&p=415971&hil ... es#p415971

Use the site "Search" facility to find what you're looking for............

Cheers Enrique.
The website Gerry quoted is exactly the one I wanted.
I hope I can remember how to use it!
( couldn't really understand Gerry's instructions though).
I'll give it a try

Hi jonbar.1,

Keep a eye on your picture size.........this was the limit 2017....we have had a upgrade since then.

" From the Admin Post.........
"The facility to Upload photos has been added for a trial period. This can be done via an "Attachment" tab below the post creation box. There is a maximum file size of photo set to 400kB. Please do no upload photos of widths greater than 800 pixels."

Sorry Enrique
I know you are being helpful, but I did not understand any of that.( don't grasp the "400kb" & "800pixels" jargon..sorry :( )
I just tried to create an inserted image in my posting using Gerry's website. It was quite easy. I was able to insert the image into my posting, but it was huge!
It looked ridiculous so I have cancelled the posting.!
I will have another practice to see if I can insert a smaller image.......probably tomorrow :)

Hi Enrique.
As you can see I have cracked it
Here is my query :
The message below has appeared a couple of times on my Samsung TV screen
1) Do I need to do anything, other than click "OK" ?
2) Why is it in Spanish when all my settings are in English?
It's not a huge problem, just slightly irritating.
Thanks for your patience..JB

Incidentally : since I started to use the "Post Images" site again I am getting a worrying notification from Kaspersky every time I open the site.
See below. Should I stop using it?

Hi jonbar.1,

Do you have Google search ( there are other Search Engines ) on your system.......... :?: any problems /research it should be your first option to lookup.

Your Kapersky image............

https://www.kaspersky.com/blog/not-a-virus/18015/

A bit about Images............

https://lib2.colostate.edu/images/cat/P ... Images.pdf

As for Spanish..........don't you get that on other devices setup in English...........it knows you're in Spain after all............ :)

It's (software) just trying to be helpful...............

I've (and GerryH) been using postimage for years , not had any problems so far... :D

Thanks Enrique for your usual rapid response.
I'd figured the TV popup was a normal "T&C" type update; I was just interested in finding it in "settings, for my own satisfaction.
Re the Kaspersky notification: I had used PostImages several times in the past, with no problems,so this was a bit of a surprise.
I checked the Kaspersky link you sent me.Very informative thanks.I would normally always use Google for answers; on this occasion I just added the query onto my existing thread about posting images.
Thanks again for your experience Enrique

Hi jonbar.1.

I would have sent PM but you've Disabled this function................"Some users couldn’t be added as they have disabled private message receipt."

Just to say if you have any specific issues with your system please PM me as this keeps the Mods happy............ :D

Thankyou Enrique.
Sadly I don't understand the jargon: "PM"?
"Mods"?
I'm fairly new to the forum. The frequent use of " initials" baffles me
I'm sure you are trying to help me.
Are you, perhaps, suggesting a way of contacting you individually?
Thanks again .John

Hi jonbar.1,

There are many acronyms and Initialism used in every day life.............including Computer terms.............

On A.com .......PM is Private Message ...where you can send a message/Post to another Member

Mods = Forum Moderators these are the Chosen Men to keep the Forum on an even keel...........

You may have noticed El Cid and Beachcomber popping up and giving some Members a rap on the knuckles........to keep a Thread on Topic.

You may need to fire up your Control Panel and Enable some Features should you wish to use them........... :D

Hi Enrique
Have just gone into "user control panel"...I have attempted to send you a "PM".
I don't know if you got.it.
I also cannot find any record of it.
I seem also to have "1" message in my inbox; I cannot find that either.
I find the whole thing bewildering Enrique.
I'm not cut out for "Social' Media" regrettably!...I've only just mastered the coffee machine. :(

Hi jonbar.1,

To use the PM facility............

click on Private messages --> Board preferences --> click to "Allow users to send you private messages"

To send a PM...........
Private messages --> Compose message --> add recipient --> type Members name (exactly from their Posts) --> Add

Type your Message ==> Submit

N.B. (Note well) the Message will show up in your "Outbox" it will stay there until the Recipient opens it for Reading.

There are many setting in "User Control Panel"...........
