Epson 4 ink WIFI Printer

Postby pensure1988 » Wed Dec 29, 2021 10:56 pm

Can anyone recommend a reliable budget priced Epson WIFi Inkjet Printer using 4 Ink Cartridges. I have been using a Expression XP-245 printer but having trouble with recharging the Ink Cartridges. I think now is the time to buy a New Printer in the January Sales. It is not worth repairing it , someone said to me recently.

Thank You

David

Buy Epson or Canon. Both have easily available compatible ink cartridges at a fraction of the price of originals. My Canon has 5 cartridges at a cost of €109. I buy compatible cartridges for less than €5 a set.

Avoid HP as although the printers are good, cheap ink is more difficult.

Apart from that, unless you have special requirements or need fast printing, buy the cheapest you can find. If they go wrong they are not economically repairable, just buy a new one.

Almost all pinters are now WiFi and multifunction.

I've had 2 HP printers and wouldn't buy another. They didn't like 'compatible' cartridges and the ink was expensive. Both of them developed the same fault of not wanting to scan or photocopy. I replaced it with the Epson XP2100 and it was very easy to set up the wifi (my first wifi printer, and how easy it is now to print from my laptop and phone when needed). The inks are cheaper but I've yet put the new black one in I bought a couple of months back. The machine said black is low but it just keeps on going so I haven't yet tried replacing it.

I’ve been using cheap ink for the last 30 years with no problems at all. Anyone who pays for OEM ink would be better off tearing up €10 notes.

Printer manufacturers don’t make ink. They buy from the same people who sell the cheap stuff.

I used to buy from specialist suppliers in UK but now that all transactions between UK and EU are difficult I find that Amazon.es have a huge number of options. Many do come from the UK but the Amazon system seems to get round the import problems.

I tend to go for the best offer on Amazon at the time. Last time it was a company called "Inkcompany".

Don't know if they do Epson but I recently bought some for my HP Envy via Amazon using Coloretto.
Prices were good and they come up as "recycled genuine HP" so no compatibility problems.

Good Morning

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I eventually bought last Monday an Epson Expression Home Model XP-3100 Printer at Alcampo Supermarket in the Marbella, La Canada Center for é69.77.was é 79.77 . It has an LCD Display window on the Printer. Easy to set up including the WIFI aspect. It uses four separate Epson 603 Cartridges and can do automatic duplex printing which I like. No problems so far.

I am pleased with my Epson XP2100 but am a bit annoyed that once the colours run out it won't function. My problematic old HPs did at least work with colour cartridge empty. I never had much luck in the past with the cheap ink but may give it a go as Sid seems to get on with them OK. Anyone tried to buy Epson 603 copies?

Just found Coloretto ones that PoR recommended so may give it a go.

Hi

I am happy with my epson expression Xp-3100 printer. Epson do not work if one cartridge is empty. All 4 cartridges have to be installed. I have bought compatible no 603 cartridges from local suppliers and they are working fine. Do remember to replace a cartridge before the ink runs out, otherwise you will experience problems with your printer.

Good Luck

My black was completely empty before replacing and it worked OK. All the colours are now empty which is why it won't print. One day there is low ink and the next they are empty! When the colour ink was low it gave me the option of just using the black ink but now it doesn't. I usually only print in black and white so not sure where the colour has gone. I shall just try some compatibles for now and see how I get on.

Just an update. I bought Greensky ink from Amazon.es which arrived quickly. I put the 3 colour 603XL cartuchos in with some trepidation but all were immediately accepted and the ink levels all show 'full' when I checked. I haven't yet printed anything, but so far they have been accepted by the printer and the empty ink warning light has gone off. So far so good.

When printing, do you actually select the colour mode of Black & White?
Some Epson printers have colour modes of Black & White, Greyscale and Colour.
The Black & White mode just uses the Black Cartridge, The other modes use the colour cartridges to mix the colour even if the original page has only black on white text on it.
Just a thought.

I set it for greyscale or black and white, depending on what I am printing, I get different option. I rarely print in colour. When the colours had run out though it wouldn't print at all, even though it was set to black and white.
