ACDSee

Postby jonbar.1 » Tue Apr 05, 2022 2:00 pm

I have always used ACDSee as my default to open and edit pics on Windows 10.
It opens the files 10x quicker than Windows "Photos" plus the editing options are much better.
( for any special, more involved editing,I use "Gimp").
I'm happy with it but the user interface is looking a bit dated.
There is an up-to-date " ACDSee Free" available.I thought I might try it.Before I do I wonder if anyone has used it? Is it safe? Is it any good?
Thanks.JB

Hi jonbar.1,

Check your version against the Free versions that are available to Download............. Example some seen quite old 2017 last updated.

If it gives you a "custom install " option check it hasn't got the kitchen sink added.......... :)

Thanks Enrique.
I've been using my current version for at least 15 years.
I imagine the "free" version is more up-to-date!
I might just give it a try.I don't need anything fancy, just something which opens the files quickly, with basic editing options.I can use Gimp for the clever stuff.
I was more concerned about it being safe.
I agree with you about "customizing" the download rather than accepting their list of "ticks"
Cheers JB

Just tried it.
It's not very helpful.
Will stick with my current version of ACDSee. It looks a bit ancient but is still miles better than the Windows "photo" offering. :D
Thanks ,as always, Enrique for your lightning response!

Enrique.
I'm sorry to use this thread to contact you, but I don't know any other way.
Some time ago you kindly sent me instructions on how to send a private message. I have just tried it, as a test, but failed miserably!

As per your instructions :
Clicked on "Private Messages" > "Compose Message" > "Add Recipient" ( I typed in "Enrique") > Add" > Typed the message. Then "Submitted"
The Message, however, does not show up in my "Outbox" as you suggested.
What did I do wrong?
I feel like I've just failed a kids' exam :(

Cheers Enrique.
Wasn't sure how to do that but fumbled around; eventually saw " Board Preferences" Selected a "yes" button.
My kids could have done this in a split second....Dad needs instructions/ tutorials
