Kindle Fire - download

Postby chrissiehope » Sun Apr 24, 2022 11:21 am

My Kindle Fire has been downloading for 20 hours now ! I'm assuming it is some kind of update, but it doesn't seem to tell me anything (other than the time it is taking). I think it is taking so long because I normally leave it in my porch, which is some distance from the router & therefore has a low signal. Having realised this I am now bringing it back indoors when I'm not reading it (like now !).
Just to be clear, I have downloaded books, but they never take this long...

So, does anyone have a Kindle Fire, & if so, have you had this download ?

TIA

Hi chrissiehope,

Check out the connection speed of the Kindle to your wifi Router.

If it looks reasonable i.e in Mbps.............then kill off the download as it's hung.

Also turn this off..........

"open the settings app, move to security and privacy, and hit the marketing option. Then, just disable telemetry reporting, and the internet connection will be optimized.
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Thanks as always Enrique. How do I check the speed on the Kindle ? It has been 'downloading' for over 24 hours, so I guess it has,as you say, hung...
Edited to say I've turned off the marketing bit, but have no idea how to stop it 'downloading'
