Looking for a new / refurbished PC

Postby spanish_lad » Wed Jul 12, 2023 10:19 pm

I'm looking for a newer tower, it's gotta be 16gb ram, and windows 10/11.

It's not for gaming, just a bit of Google / social networking / blah blah.

Anyone got any links ? People or places they recommend? I've found vorpc online, and they can do one for under 100€, delivered.

Can anyone beat that?

That seems very cheap to me, remember if an offer is too good to be true it probably is as the saying goes.

Bought a referbed HP desktop from Amazon recently. 16gb ram, ssd system drive, 500gB second drive, Windows 10. Excellent value and way faster than I actually need for the light usage I make of it.

and that order was fulfilled by VorPC.

looks like we are on the same page there.

Lyric - I totally agree with that - but thats about the right price for a pc now. people who buy new ones from carrefour / media markt etc for a thousand euros are mad. You can buy a pallet of 20 pcs for a thousand euros, if you look at ex business machines etc.

Hi S_L,
Nice spec for the price.

You will need to manually install Windows 11 .iso as the system not compatible due to TPM and UEFI Secure boot BIOS is required.

Well within your pay grade.............. :D

Some light reading...................

Have to say we'll pleased with the HP. Way faster than the Dell it replaced... Your correct regarding Windows 11 compatibility tho. Personally once windows 10 support is dropped I will either switch over to Linux as what little I now do on a PC could easily be covered with Linux apps... Or alternatively buy a newer 2nd hand with Windows 11 installed.. TBH if I get a couple of years out of the HP the trash it I've not exactly lost a fortune.

I was looking to put 8gb of ddr3 in my current pc (win 10 with 2gb, and only 2ghz.. slow)

But the shops all want 40 euro + for it. If I can get another machine with it already done, and a newer mobo / processor combo and 16gb of ram.. I figure why not.
