If you put smarty dns on a device eg a firestick, Do you have to re apply it each time the satellite internet ip address changes? If so I will pay the extra for a fixed ip.
UPS question. We have quite a few outages. Either network or our invertor switching to grid when a cloud passes by. We have two Salicru ups’s and both just give a couple of quick bips and go dead. Connected again they have green light signifying the normal function. I am thinking that both batteries have expired. What do you think please?
Couple of tech Questions.

Re: Couple of tech Questions.
Hi olive,
1) SmartyDNS ..............Should not matter if IP changes.........try it and see.
2 ) Salicru (I've four SPS Ones 900 )..........batteries last about 3 years. Mine are monitored using linux servers running NUT, so you can check the Battery condition and set when to shutdown the servers if there is an extended power out.
Battery backup will depend on Salicru model and the Load you have.

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Re: Couple of tech Questions.
If your IP address changes, SmartyDNS will not work. It uses your IP address to validate your account. You don’t need to change any settings in the Firestick. You just sign into the Smarty website and revalidate your IP address.
Your UPS batteries are dead. New ones are cheap from online suppliers. I have used

Re: Couple of tech Questions.
Ours goes through phases of not changing for weeks then suddenly it will change every day for a few days. We have made the Smarty account address a bookmark on the browser and it remembers our password, so revalidating it is quick to do. We have the DNS set up in the router so everything is covered by it, but strangely the BBC news website won't load if the IP address has changed so we know when it's gone when the OH goes to check the football results.
Re: Couple of tech Questions.
I seem to remember having to revalidate a lot when we previously had satellite internet
Eurona ( our billing/ service for our Hispasat) gave us a courtesy call today. I have asked to go onto a fixed Ipr another 10 euros a month. Sorted
The ups batteries are straight forward enough. Thanks for the link Sid. I got Salicru units on your recommendation Enrique on here. ( Hopefully 3 years or more ago!)
