ADSL no activo

Postby Ashcroft » Fri Sep 30, 2005 8:24 pm

We are moving out next month and will need an ADSL connection. We were under the impression that this would not be a problem. We have now found that on entering our Spanish telephone number into telephonicainenglish's broadband checker ADSL es no activo in our urbanization.

Can any of you good people offer some advice as to a reasonably fast alternative?

You should still make an individual check with Telefónica because the automatic checker is not definitive.

However, if there is definitely no possibility you will probably need to contract with one of the wireless services but you usually have to be in line of site of a repeater.

'but you usually have to be in line of site of a repeater.'

I believe that there is a wireless internet connection called WI-MAX available now and you do not have to be in sight of a repeater mast. Does anyone know of a service provider in Axarquia who uses this ?

Yes WI-MAX is the next generation wireless internet connection and doesn't need line-of-sight, but I am pretty sure it is not deployed yet.

Yes, ISDN is available but I am not sure if it is available everywhere. In Spain it is called RSDI.

Alternatively you could try the person whose details I have sent you in a PM. He says that with his system line of sight is not necessary but I am not sure what areas he presently covers.

I live in Manilva and can't even get a Telefonica phone line let alone a broadband line.

The development has been here for over a year but Telefonica refuse to acccept it exists
