Car Tax - "Impuesto Municipal"

Postby Chalky » Thu Apr 17, 2008 11:46 am

My Other Half has recently bought a used car; according to the paperwork it was registered in Malaga. We live in Manilva. Do we have to go to Malaga to pay this year's car tax? If so, does anyone know where, please?

If you carried out the change of ownership procedure with DGT the tax will eventually be transferred to your local town hall. However, this can sometimes take a year or more so you may well have to pay this one in Málaga.

I would suggest, as a first step, that you go to your local town hall with the paperwork for the vehicle and say that you want to pay. There is a remote possibility that they will liaise with Málaga town hall on your behalf.

Blimey, Beach, that was quick! :)

The transfer was dealt with by the dealer we bought the car from. I'll do as you suggest and see what happens.

Thanks,
