Car Tax

Sorry guys for the question that has probably been asked a thousand time (search didn't find anything)...

If I buy a used car from the Cadiz area will it be taxed, how will I know it's taxed and how will I know when the tax is due?

Also if the car is not taxed I would i do it in the Seville area

When a car is sold the most recent payment for car tax has to be produced. If you are unfamiliar with the procedure you should use a gestor that specialises in car transfers to ensure that you are not buying a stolen vehicle or one with lots of fines outstanding which will be transferred to you if you purchase it without checking.

You are so right Beachcomber. We bought a vehicle when we were new and green to Spanish ways and did not get the tax situation checked. We just dutifully registered it at our Town Hall and promptly got a bill for 300euros. The so and so who sold it to us had never paid any tax on it at all
