Quick question re. cost of Spanish registration.

Postby katy » Wed Sep 17, 2008 9:32 am

Yes I know we have had it lots of times  Sorry, have been searching but not found how to do the calculation.

What would be a wide guestimate for someone registering a Dutch car in Spain. She is non-resident, Volkeswagon Golf, 1.4, 4 years old, value around 6000 euros(?)

It will be 9.75% of the value today.

This will be based on 47% depreciation on the cost new in Spain.

Looks like about 600 euros plus other costs and fees (ITV, plates, gestors etc)..

From my own experience the fiscal value used to calculate the tax is often much lower than the one the owner puts on the vehicle (much the same as cadastral value is a lot less than actual value of property). :D

The tax office publish tables of car values by make and model together with the rates of depreciation.

They are available here.

That said, how they work out the figures in reality is anyone's guess - a good gestor will probably negotiate a good deal! It will be even more complicated now the tax is based on emissions as they will also need to know the official emissions figure for the car involved.

Thanks, just wanted a vague idea to give her. How much would a gestor charge for doing this...a few hundred?
