Re: ITV
As Enrique says: don't approach the desk but look for a computer terminal machine (you can change the language to English if that helps) - it will ask if you have an appointment, or wish to make one - click "Si" to say you have cita previa, it then offers a range of time zones, click the one that covers your appt, then your reg number: it then issues a ticket which says which desk to keep an eye on. When your reg number comes up on the screen over the desk, approach with your fischa technica, fee (they even take cards now) and and hand them over. Ther clerk will give you your fischa technica back clipped to a form for the tester. Somewhere there should be a giant screen (if it is like Algarrobo), just keep watch on that until your reg number comes up, and it will tell you which test lane you should go to - easy-peasy!

Also...there is some things to do before getting to your inspection bay............Especially for Diesel engined vehicles............basically the engine needs to be at operating temperature and then you need to take the revs up to the governor cut out three times .......that bit jars my mechanical sympathy ..........

And don't forget to check your oil levels. If they are not correct they will not carry out the test.
They are also failing you if the plastic headlight covers have gone even slightly opaque.

Re: ITV
It is worth noting that if you know of someone wanting to make an appointment (and this is usually a must) but is not computer-savvy, they can go to the itv station and just say "No" when asked if they have a 'cita previa', and book one there and then. I saw one couple do this, and their appointment was half-an-hour later - I reckon you would have to be very unlucky to find everything booked for hours ahead.

Re: ITV
If you have opaque lenses there are a number of ways of improving them but I recommend this product http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0078IHJ1K. Changing modern headlights is fine but expensive, xenons can kill with the stored juice.El Cid wrote:And don't forget to check your oil levels. Who fines you, police or ITV station?El Cid wrote:janieb wrote:Hi guys, can anyone tell me if you get fined if the itv isn't done by the due date? Thanks
Yes - it will cost you €100. There is no period of grace.

I have had a ITV done after it's due date, due to the car being in a garage for repair.
Cheers

Re: ITV
The police fine you if they stop you. It has nothing to do with the test centre - they just do the tests. The reason that there are so many untested cars on the road is that it is cheaper to take a chance and to pay the fine if you get caught than get the car put right and tested. There are no points taken off for the offence.gerryh wrote:Who fines you, police or ITV station?El Cid wrote:janieb wrote:Hi guys, can anyone tell me if you get fined if the itv isn't done by the due date? Re: ITV
I didn't drive it, only to the ITV station, I rand and asked if that was ok, they say if i got stopped i would need to show my appointment time to ensure i was telling the truth, its the same as the UK, buti wasn't sure thats why I rang, I didnt realise the ITV always runs out on the last day of the month and not on the same date as you had it last tested.
