Velez Malaga car tax

I haven't received my car tax bills, from Velez Malaga, yet.
They have to be paid soon, anybody received theirs yet from Velez Malaga?

Not Velez, I realise Gerry, but we never got ours from Torrox either this year. I went into the office last week and got a bill printed out but the date to pay by was 16 June for some reason, when it is usually around 16 May.

Yes, all of mine were paid by direct debit on the same day, 6th May.

Asked in my bank today about it, and he said it will be going out in June this year in this area, didnt give a reason why though.

No, it just gets paid through the bank. They only send them out by post if it is not on direct debit or it gets bounced by the bank for some reason.

The Friigiliana town hall sent an email to the effect that it was due on 20th May and was being sent by post. Naturally I never received it and went and got one printed at the local Patronato office, this dated the 16 June, subsequently the town hall sent another mail saying the date had been changed, no explanation, and that revised bills would be sent, don't suppose I'll receive that either.

OK. It all makes sense now.

The local town halls, who issue the bills and receive the car tax money are all short of cash.
The tax period is for 1st Jan to 31st Dec, so they used to delay sending out the bills until April/ may and collect the money by May 16th or thereabouts.
Now they are going to delay sending out the bills until May/ June? and collect the money in June?

Hang on, there is something wrong with the logic here.
Perhaps I had better withdraw the opening sentence.

If there was any logic involved they would be raiding your bank account on January 1st!

How does car tax work.we bought a car a few weeks back and its got a years tax on it.but seeing as everyone seems to get charged at the same time of the year regardless of when your years tax runs out how dors it work. and i presume yiu get your car tax bill from the town you live regardless of where the car was bought from?

The person who owns the car on 1st Jan is liable, and should pay, the tax on the car irrespective of when it is sold during the year.
A new car will, probably, be taxed by the dealer on the day he sells the car.
When the car is registered in your name the tax, for subsequent years, will be paid to the town hall of the area in which you live.

I don't think my road tax bill comes from Alcaucin Ayuntamiento ... but from that big office in Velez, up the side street just past the Town Hall.

Has to be paid by 16th June.
No obvious reason why they have changed the pay by date.

Car tax was taken from account today. I've been told to check in June in case it comes off twice!

Looks like both of my cars came off today although not the bike. Shame the bank receipt no longer shows the vehicle ,registration number. I'm sure it used to.
